    I tried soldering the 0201 of the Powercolor RX6600 GPU chip.

    The problem is that lead needs to be applied to the lower surface, but the fillet on the side caused interference. It didn't work well with the soldering iron, so I applied a small amount of welding cream to the lower copper surface and tried using a hot air gun, but it failed. Is there a better way?

    you probably need to heat the area first with a hotplate or hot air and then do the soldering

      Thank you for your answer. Is this correct order of heating it with a soldering iron first, then applying flux, then adding a little lead, then placing the element and heating it with a heating gun? It would be better to do it one by one. If I did it all at once, the elements stuck together.

        I find that if you heat the area around the edges of where the component is going to be on the board then use the soldering iron to mount the component seems to work most of the time for me but you have to be patient and you have to cover the areas where you do not want the heat to be exposed to like surface mount capacitors and resistors and anything that will get damaged by excessive heat

        Now —>

        If you are doing surface mount components then you might be better off with a tweezer style soldering iron will make your life much easier and doing this job easier

        I have to ask which component are you trying to do the very big component then what STJ suggested would work but you need to monitor the temperature of the component if you have any intention of reusing it otherwise it might get damaged by the amount of heat and the length of time it is exposed to heat beyond the recommended temperature and time which this information would be in the data sheet for the device component

          i like to heat the area with hot air and use some type of clamp to hold the air so you have both hands free,
          then use tweezers and a soldering iron while the air is still blowing on the board

            Proper temperature control is important. And I think I need to apply only a very small amount of solder. I'm a beginner, so it didn't work well because it was too small to do with my hands. When I used a heating gun, the difficulty level was easier and it stuck more firmly. Thank you all. I won't give up and will try again today.

                It's an rx6600 GPU. I tried to attach one of the fallen resistors. The result was failure. They all fell off. I'm not even sure what the resistance value is. When connected, 32 and 42 were measured. The strange thing is that after I removed it, the resistance value was not measured. The resistance was too much. It's small, but is it something that can be done with a soldering iron?...

                Hi all. I need to replace an SMD fuse on my camcorder and this is the first time I have had to do any SMD soldering so your advice would be appreciated. Below is a picture of the board that I am working on and I have highlighted the fuse that needs to be replaced. I managed to zoom in to take this picture but the fuse is really tiny and is sandwiched between other components so this is going to be a new milestone for me.                 Elitebook 840 G5 Bios Chip Soldering Question

                Hi everyone,

                I have an HP Elitebook 840 G5 that I am trying to get working again. I've removed the front bios chip (the 32mb one) and have run it through HP unlocker already. I've uploaded and verified the new bin, but am now experiencing an issue that has led me to believe I've been soldering the chip back to the motherboard incorrectly.

                Essentially, after re-soldering the chip back into its place and reassembling the laptop, the charging light immediately flashes orange and white and then shifts to a solid white. The capslock and numlock lights blink seven times...

                Hi Everyone,
                I bought a Yihua 992DA+ hot air gun and soldering iron unit from a used market.
                1. Soldering iron works great
                2. There is a burnt mark on the hot air gun handle.
                I am a bit concern by the look of the melted plastic. I opened the hot air gun handle and took some readings with a multimeter.
                Heating element ~ 75ohm. (Similar reading taken from a spare heating element that came with the unit.)
                Thermocouple ~ 1.5ohm. (Similar reading from the spare heating element.)
                Reed switch tested ok with a magnet.
                From the above test, I can conclude...
