LeCroy outsourcing manufacturing to other companies

I have read about some LeCroy scopes are custom made by Atten, and I have seen a LeCroy scope made in Japan by Iwatsu.
Could LeCroy be doing that to keep afloat?

What other major US test equipment companies are outsourcing manufacture to other (most likely overseas) companies?
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.

This question is like asking from some one to write down an complete analysis just for you, of which company is doing what in their full range of products.

Personally I have lost my enthusiasm regarding Agilent scopes, by finding out that their 3000X are using low quality heat-sinks in their PSU, and the same parts are also in the RIGOL DS-2000 which is Made in China.

In contrast, GW Instek is a Taiwanese company which uses Taiwanese R&D plus Japanese capacitors (Nippon Chemi-Con) and individual full size heat-sinks with fins in every part on that power supply in their GDS-2000A scopes.
Even the fan is using hydro-bearings and is made in Taiwan.
Their probes comes from PINTEK another Taiwanese manufacturer which makes only high quality products, which they travel as OEM in the hands of respectable brands like BK precision and others.

GW Instek managed to impresses me, they use the highest quality of parts available in Taiwan, and if they need something which is not available in the quality level that they demand (localy), they import it from Japan.
About their saying .. Simply reliable .. now it is obvious the how-to, which they are using so to succed that.

Dell XPS 8940 | Manufacturing Mode? | No Service Tag
      by AustinCER
Hello, I currently have a Dell XPS 8940 in our office for repair.
      Service Tag: HG1Y673
The most recent BIOS is pictured below -- being available as an .exe on Dell website.

Needed a new motherboard due to power surge. The motherboard replacement was installed and upon power up it was booting to a display message - Manufacturing Mode Active -

Have not dealt with this issue before or what the proper steps are. I booted to the BIOS and manually entered the Service Tag, but upon each reboot -- the service tag is wiped and shows the Manufacturing Mode display message,...

The Mystery of 'Manufacturing Mode' - Dell Motherboards
      by CapThatBrass
      Hi,

Firstly sorry if this is the wrong forum for posting this question - please recategorize or move to another part of the forum if necessary.

I've been doing alot of research recently into the world of BIOS editing and building of images, out of curiosity mainly.

Lots of Youtube videos as well as threads in this forum (as well as others) mention the term 'unlocked' bios which generally means the removal of BIOS passwords from a dumped image to allow full access to the BIOS/UEFI menu. However, a handful mention that a prompt for the Service Tag will...

Dell 9310 (2-in-1) bios to fore manufacturing mode
      by jlxxxx
I have read the FAQ, and other reference here to changing the EC region of the flash image to force entering manufacturing mode.
How would I modify the dell 9310 firmware in order to force entering manufacturing mode? The goal is to have the computer ask me to enter the service tag after changing the motherboard.
Can this be completed using the boot-up USB restore method that Dell supports in order to reduce risk of damaging the hardware further? (Ctrl+Esc keys while holding the power button)
Dell provides this bios here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/dri...

Lock manufacturing mode is HP by modifying binary file of BIOS
      by f-bone
      hi guys,

wasn't sure where to place this (BIOS requests or here).

i know the software procedure to re-lock the manufacturing mode in Windows but is there some hex editing to the .bin file that would do that just before I flash a new .bin to the SPI?

      thank you in advance,
      george
