Hello guys

got this tv tonight a 22 inch and 19 inch both totally dead power supply and main boards identical

vestel boards

17ips61-2
17mb62-2.6

anyone come across issues with these tvs

check voltages, on power supply, if all ok, then you know it can only be eeprom, AGAIN,
should have learnt your lesson with these tv's, lol

Shorted diodes are very common. Easy fix if so.

Just a reference for anyone else having issues with this tv power supply i have attached a image of the diode i changed

Just a note, with these VESTEL power boards, I would always replace the other diode in a set with a new diode from the same tape.

(So when you buy three diodes for example, they come attached on the same "bandoleer" tape. This means they were roughly made at the same time and will be likely to have similar characteristics. The Vestel junk power boards fail because the diodes aren't well matched.)

Hi, sorry for the newbie question but I have a totally dead lcd tv with the same vestel 17ips61-2 power board.

I'm hoping mine has a faulty diode too?

Can anybody point me in the direction of where to buy replacement diodes?

Any help will be really appreciated thanks

Woohoo I removed the three diodes from the board and there appears to be one that has shorted as it has continuity in both directions?

I re-fitted the two good diodes and breifly powered up the tv and it works!

My question is, will I be able to get some replacements from the likes of Maplin?

Can somebody please point me in the right direction of where to buy them and what part number to ask for?

To ensure reliability, make sure to replace all diodes in any given set at the same time with diodes from the same strip.

I will do thanks, there seems to be three diodes in the set and according to the schematic diagram they are listed as sb5100 diodes?

Interestingly though, the diagram shows three diodes, but the are only two on my board with a vacant place for the third. If I order the uf5408 diodes you kindly linked me to, should I fit all three?

You can fit all three, it may improve the reliability slightly. It can't cause any harm. That diode will have been omitted to save money.

ive changed my 3 diodes and still no power light or standby or screen, however the dvd player does spin up, any ideas..?

Could be a main board fault. Checked all connections made properly?

Hi, just found this site and this forum topic in relation to my Vestel PSU being dead in my TV. Thanks for the concise and clear info, I could be hanging round here lots more in the future.
