I have this model 47zv650u Toshiba lcd and when plugged in there is no power at all. No lights on front of panel or anything. I'm guessing this is my power supply but wanted to get a second opinion. Haven't found a service manual yet so can't really check any voltages yet. Obvious fuses have been checked and are good.

Interesting layout. Messy, but interesting.
Close to the center of the board is a small transformer with a yellow strip of tape across the top. GC1 TRS02 DK is printed on the tape. Just above it is a 7 pin IC labeled with Q840 outlined in white. I believe that is the standby SMPS controller. What is the part number of that IC?

Re: Toshiba 47zv650u no power at all!!
Got a question for you. I don't think it matters but this diode in the pics D875 checked right and i reversed the leads to see if it would read 0V and it didn't it started slowly creeping up to OL. Is this normal? Most diode's i've checked will check a small voltage one way and swap leads and it reads 0V. I removed the diode from the circuit and checked again and it read like a normal diode, low volt on one side and zip with reversed leads.Comment

in ciruit there are other components(capacitor most likely) causing your odd reading.
as long as it checks ok out of cicuit youre good.Comment

Re: Toshiba 47zv650u no power at all!!
You have a winner!!! That is an STR-A6169, an integrated SMPS controller / power FET. The datasheet is here.
Fortunately the pins are marked on the board. Pin 3 is Ground. What are the voltages on pins 1, 2, 4, and 5? Do NOT check the voltage on pins 7 and 8.

pin2- .005
pin4 -.498
pin5 - .054
Doesn't sound too good to me but IDK.Comment

If you are REALLY brave, try measuring the voltage from pin 3 to pin 7 or 8.
The STR-A6169 is available from Amazon at a very popular price - $19.99 - a 1000% markup. You might also try searching for it under the Sony part number - 6-600-279-01

You might be premature. You can trace this down yourself, or provide pictures of the surrounding area (top and bottom of the board). Pin 5 SHOULD be at the same voltage as the mains filter cap. The application note shows it connected directly, but there may be a resistor between them.

That amazon price is ridiculous.Comment

Re: Toshiba 47zv650u no power at all!!
Well i got Ballsy and checked the 7 and 8 pins and had nothing. That chip doesn't seem to be getting anything. Shouldn't i be getting an input to one of those pins? Checked the surrounding resistors and they seemed to be ok and none are shorted. Here's a couple pics for you. Is there any way to check the IC if i pulled out of circuit?
That amazon price is ridiculous.
If F840 is open, do NOT jumper it with a wire. There is a significant chance Q840 is shorted pin 8 to pin 3.

With power connected, what is the voltage across C20?

Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by PantherDaveHi all!
I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅
I found the boardview for this laptop in the forums here, and am able to open it on my PC with FlexBV.

TL;DR - this laptop is driving me nuts with the oddball power-related behaviors. Appreciate any insight you can provide!
I'm experiencing a power issue on an Asus Probook P5440UF-XB74. Although I've worked with electronics and computers for decades, this is my first attempt at getting into motherboard-level component troubleshooting. Any help the community can provide is greatly appreciated!

by sam_sam_samI have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump
One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy... -
by ju123Hi guys,
So, I've been racking my brains on this one.
I have a Satellite C50-A which I'm repairing for a friend.
I recently replaced the main board due to failure.
Following this, absolutely everything works perfectly, except for the fact it won't power down.
Initially, shutting down via Windows would shut the OS down, screen would turn off (noticed the lighter black go to what looks like the darker black powered off screen as though the backlights have powered off), however the laptop was still running internally with a spinning... - Loading...
