Hi everybody!
I picked up a Sanyo DP42849 LCD tv at a thrift store for $20 as it was not working properly. I figured that for that price, I could likely part it out if I couldn't get it working... But I need a TV for my basement, so I want to fix it.
The initial problem was that the left half of the screen worked perfectly and the right half stayed black. The backlights work and the panel is not cracked.
After some playing around, I accessed the T-con board and the two ribbon cables attaching the T-con to the panel. After playing around with them with the set on, I have multiple intermittent issues.
First, I have gotten signal to the right half of the screen, which tells me that the panel is good. When I have a good connection, the right side looks perfect. The problem is that the left side is fine for the first 20% of the screen, then from the 20% point to the center it has vertical lines. Playing with the ribbons gives multiple results from changing color of the lines to losing signal all together.
A few questions:
Do the two ribbon cables carry signal to the two halves of the screen? It seems that the left side ribbon carries more than the right.
Should I try ebaying a new T-Con or ribbons? There is effeminately more change when shimmying the cables at the T-Con than at the panel.
Any other ideas?
Thanks in advance!
