Re: Samsung UN32EH4003F LED burnout
32" TV with blown LEDs may not be worth fixing?
I found in my salvage pile of LED Strips some with the same amount of LEDs....Last edited by 120volts; 02-19-2018, 08:40 PM.

Don't you love LED back light!
Don't you love LED back light!
Plasma TVs are a pain to fix, but I due love the picture of a plasma.
The LED back light is such a common failure now.
Yes it's a pain pulling the screen but the repair is low cost.
And there's so many in the local recycle been.
here's one I got yesterday which has three shorted leds!Last edited by 120volts; 01-08-2017, 10:26 PM.

LED Backlight Love /Hate
LED Backlight Love /Hate
Boy fixing Plasma TV' were such a pain with quite a few boards,
Then LCD with CCFLs now LCD with LED back light!
Well now you can pick up a nice TV with bad LEDs.
Yes a pain to fix but at a low price.
You would think that the manufactures would make it so you could replace the LEDs from the back, LOL ya right. big job low cost in parts, Real bummer.

TCL LE55FHDF3300Z lines on screen
Hello fellow techs
Here's one I got recently and I'm thinking it's the T-CON
So I bought one, OOPS I bought the wrong one.
I'm thinking of buying another one but I figured I ask if my assumption is write thinking it's the T-CON.
I do appreciate any help.

Re: LED back lights
I've been picking TVs out of the dump for years, Now I find LED backlight failure is becoming very common. Not fair to consumers when a $3 part causes the failure of a $400 or $500 TV. Why didn't they mount them from the back so they could be replaced?

LED back lights
What the heck
They advertise that LED back light is the new greatest thing but it's seems to be the worst new thing. Why didn't they make them more accessible ?
I guess it's great for techs who are willing to pull the screen assembly apart.

Re: LG 47LN5400 TV screen problem
You can get them on eBay
My 47LN5400 also had bad LEDs and as I was testing the LED strips I accidentally blew two more strips with to much current/voltage.
I forgot to set the current limit on my power supply.
Now I don't hink I want to spend $100 for four strips.
Have Fun

How common is it for LEDs to short?
How common is it for LEDs to short?
I'm a TV hoarder and I have 14 tvs in my shop right now.
Plasmas are a pain but I like the picture.
LCDs are a easer to work on.
But now it seems to me that the LED back lit are a real problem.
How common is it for the LEDs to fail?

Re: What A Load Of Trash !
As you can see I still get part of the picture I guess I shouldn't complain.

Re: What A Load Of Trash !
I tried super big caps to fix th lines but, it didn't work.
I found that yellow electrical tape worked better.
I'm not sure why but, It's still hard to see the picture....

Why do some chips run so hot without a heat sink?
Why do some chips run so hot without a heat sink?
After working on quite a few electronic devices that heat causes major problems.
What the XXXX why don't they heat sink them.
My friends Plasma TV keep shutting down until I installed a small fan.
I'm working on a 32" sharp that the picture get un-viewable after it heats up
Circuit cool spray makes it work for about an hour

Re: Samsung LN52A530P1FXZA Tab bonding repair
Down to the point, I've seen quite a few TVs with screen ribbon bond failure.
So far I see the main fix is to put pressure on the screen contact with rubber.
Dose anyone have another technique maybe heat to re-bond the ribbon?
Dose anyone know how the ribbons are bonded to the screen originally at the factory?

Screen Ribbon Bond failures
I've been in the electronic world for 30 years and you never stop learning.
I've mostly been in the repair end repairing failure do to component failure.
I love the challenge of trying to figure out what went wrong.
Working on CRT TVs was cool but I never liked the 19,000 volt on the CRT.
Back in 1980 I got a 25,000 volt burn on my hand after replacing a CRT screen with a rebuilt CRT.
Down to the point, I've seen quite a few TVs with screen ribbon bond failure.
So far I see the main fix is to put pressure on the screen...Last edited by 120volts; 07-01-2014, 08:02 PM.
