    Critters in computers

    I almost had a "centi-puter" LOL.

I saw something moving on the floor at night on September 25 and it was a centipede.

I was thinking that I have a better chance of having a centi-puter than a roachputer.

    Re: Critters in computers

Now that is called computer bug. I once had a small spider make itself at home in our family PC. I opened the side panel for cleaning and it had a nice little "web-site" with a pile of dead crickets underneath. Being the arachnophobic I am, it was promptly removed and squashed.

I think I had a tiny spider live in a case before and managed to not F-up the PC.

            Re: Critters in computers

I see it a bit at work too. I once had one with a carpet of dead cockroaches on the bottom, and the components were covered in cockroach droppings.

              Re: Critters in computers

Every once in a while, we get centipedes in the house like that, too. Nasty little critters - fast and clumsy. They always start climbing a wall and then fall near you. Spiders, on the other hand, don't bother me at all and I just let them do whatever they like.
Just a few weeks back, I had a huge one on the outside of my window - only its body was about 0.5 inches. The whole spider itself was almost 2 inches with the feet and everything. I saw a few dead stink bugs in its web as well.

As for computer bugs, I had a roach computer too. I believe I posted it in the Your Best Dumpster Finds thread. The computer itself came from a dumpster, so don't be that surprised. Luckily all of the roaches were dead/gone when I found it. The smell of roach poo was still there, though - even after multiple cleanings with chlorine-based wipes. I ended up spray-painting that computer with left over spray paints just to get rid of the smell.

That actually sounds like a pretty good name for a future web programing language (if it hasn't been used already).

I heard that the Crotched Mountain school (Greenfield, NH) horticulture office had a mouse-puter!

Back when I was there, 2002 was my last year there.

I heard of a guy who once found dead possums inside an IBM system/32 he had acquired however it seems his lease on the domain expired.

I assume they're actually dead and not "playing possum". you know they love to play dead.
