Ever got compenstaion from a power company for data loss?

I had a customers drive that had extreme fragmentation (2TB laptop drive, 80% fragmentation, ~75% used space)

several days fragmenting (hooked up externally to desktop SATA), power went out in the middle of it. I got it booting but win10 is screwed to hell. Full check disked. Fixed every error. Tried everything. DSIM, restored the wim successfully from flash drive. SFC, stopped at 41% with a protection problem. Fixed TrustedInstaller, restored backup registry. No avail

any way, perhaps my customer can get a claim from our power company and pay me for the extreme amount of time

Yes I know I should have a UPS but I don't have the money for one

You don't use a UPS , that's SURELY a big problem . In case you need to retrieve data , Test disk is a good free program .

Here we use power at our own risk.

      MB : ASUS M4A89TD PRO USB3
      RAM : Kingston ValueRAM 16gb DDR3

No backup and no UPS is not the electric companies fault.

Definitely so. I learned the hard way myself. I still don't have an UPS - but i no longer have a desktop computer at home, just laptops. But i do back up my data.

It's not the power company's fault so much as it's not the weatherman's fault that it rained during your BBQ.

With that fragmentation, I'd talked the customer to a new drive and copy the old stuff over there.
Then the drive is defragmented - and it's way faster too...

I don't think you can sue the power company for killing someone if they're on some life support system at home either?
