220uf/16V small cap.......where to find replacement

    Hi all,
I have a really small cap

    Diameter: 8.2mm
    Height: 5.71mm

Any idea where i can find similar caps. The cap in question is a "through-hole" cap. But the only ones i can find which are similar in size are surface mount............not sure how to use a surface mount where a "through-hole" is supposed to go.

    Any ideas?

Digikey shows a pany FC 8.0 x 6.0mm thru hole radial. Currently out of stock. Try Mouser or Newark. Good Luck.

Yes, and the Panasonic FC and FM are quite good quality.

647-UVY1E221MED1DU this will work. 6.3 x 11. Just lay down the cap.I have done this on several occasion. Not all caps have to be very high quality. You will have a hard time finding a low profile type caps of the one you are trying to replace.

I thought i would show a few pictures of the board which has the caps i want to replace. If you look at the pic the caps i wnat to replace are the "light blue" caps.

I also show how this board is mounted into the unit.

I also show (or try to show) from a side view how much room is available.

this is a Xerox monitor XG-71 or XL370b. I had the same problem. I had to lay down the all caps I replace (6.3 x 11) I know I'm repeating the same information again.

thanks for the link but i am not sure what to do with it. Mouser does not list the short 220uF caps. But thanks. I will look again on mouser, digikey and newark just to be sure.

OK, HERE is a picture of my XG-71D video board. I had the same problem when replacing those low profile caps. I search everywhere but no luck. So decided to lay down the caps as picture. I install the board with into the casing with no problem.

                                hope this help
