    toshiba 37x3030D power up issue

    hi guys

I have a Toshiba 37x3030d (same boards as 42x3030d hence the manual link)

it partially powers up (psu relay clicks and stays on for about 5 seconds, little LED on the AV tuner CI board blinks, the optical autio output comes on and both LED's on the front of the unit come on)

all voltages from the psu check out ok and switch on/off as normal

but on the low_b (second power board) there is an output to the AV board to power the LDVS board (should be 12v according to schematic diag) this doesn't give me any reading at the connector but the switching part of the circuit is getting 24v on its input pin 1 (this is a little daughter board standing vertical off the low_b board) and giving out 24v on pin 2 like the diagram shows but nothing after that,
on the same switching circuit there is a Power_lcd input back from the AV board that comes from the ocm memory chip right back in the the circuit

I just cant work out if the 12v should be on and the power_lcd is the (im ok signal) or if its the (wake up signal) ether way this has no voltage at any time on there

this is the manual, starts at the mem chip on page 50 and goes via these 65-28-23-27&24 are where I've traced the Power_lcd back to the low_b VCC_LCD switch daughter board

I did notice the protect circuit stays at 2.8v once power button is pressed/power relay is on, also tv doesn't turn it's self off if the cable from the av board to the LVDS board is unplugged

    hope someone can help

Re: toshiba 37x3030D power up issue

i have now got this tv to power up and stay on but still no picture,

this tv has been on alot of its life so could it be the ccfl's or the inverter?

    inverter has the markings LG.philips 6632l-0442a, lc370wu1, ppw-cc37ts-0

    it has
    24v supply
    5v on the on/off input
    3v on the brightness input
as i check around i found a fluctuating 0-1.5v in the center area of the board (red circle area) its the same with/without ccfl plugged in

whats best way to test it and what else should i check? i dont have another screen to put it in but i do have a few ccfl's around the place, it has two x 2 pin plugs but only one wire per plug used, im used to two x 2pin plugs but with 2 wires used per plug (laptop/monitors)

If you have time I would just send $20 on ebay for a ccfl tester. You can make them too if you youtube it. This will help you narrow if one of the two is bad.

Re: toshiba 37x3030D power up issue

Mr_Bodgit can you tell me what was the problem with the 12V line?
My TV has the exact same problem...no VCC_LCD voltage, the regulator does not start due to no signal from the POWER_LCD input and the POWER_PROTECT line stays at 2.8V.
All the other voltages seem to be there.

        Thank you!

'POWER_LCD' is command signal generated by the Main board.
Too bad the link to the service manual no longer works.

I have the service manual...the signal comes from OCS memory. The 2.8V POWER PROTECT comes from the ST_BY CPU. I`m not sure what triggers that POWER PROTECT, that is why i`m asking you help, maybe you remember what was the problem.

            Thank you

POWER PROTECT and the AC DET are the signals should be generated by the power supply board to feed the processor through those transistors.
Can you up load the service manual?

The service manual needs DWF viewer and internet explorer.

Thanks, I have that setup on my computer to read TOSHIBA service manual. I wish TOSHIBA hs them in PDF like everyone else.

                    Hi guys!

I got the tv working by changing the Signal board PE0251, the one with the big BGA on it. Now I got another problem...either the new signal board is defective or the t-con or...the panel.
The tv starts and lights up ok, but the image is doubled, it`s rolling horizontal and the menu is all messed up. All the letters are scrambled, I can read it but it`s hard.
                    I`ll post a video...
If i go into service menu and change the screen size from 42" to 37" or 32" the menu screen changes to better but not perfect.
I did a "Initialization of Memory Data of QA02 and Setting Data of Signal Unit" to get the new signal board working for a 42" panel but nothing changed.
Also, when i feed the tv 1080p signal the image is triple and only with cable tv on 512p it`s double.
And when the tv senses that the channel is in 4:3 the image changes from 16:9 to 4:3 and the rolling goes only in the 4:3 window.

                    please take a look...thank you!

Got the tv working. It was a bad eprom on the signal board.

                      Thanks!
