Samsung LN52B630 LCD TV keeps reseting

    Hi,
I tried looking at some of the threads in this forum and I could not find one that matched my problem. I have done some research online on my problem and it seem that quite a few people have this same issue. My TV turns off and on. I know I have a capacitor issue because I contacted Samsung and was told that my TV was not manufactured in the time period that would qualify it for repair at no charge. So I was looking for someone that could show me the steps needed to replace them. I don't think it that difficult to do and out of warranty repairs are crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

I have yet to have a capacitor issue on a samsung. I'm not saying they don't happen, just that it's not always the case. An obviously bad capacitor looks like a can of soda that froze and the end bulged out. Capacitors can be bad but not look it too.

The first thing you need to do is post good clear pics of each board in the TV and one of the whole set from the back. Also, please describe exactly what the TV is doing.

      johnboy1313,
I have yet to open up my TV but according to general public regarding this issue with Samsung LCD TV's, everyone keeps pointing to a capacitor issue. There was even a class action lawsuit for this issue. I was hoping someone already had posted this issue and had the instruction on how to repair it. I will try to open up my TV to see if I see bulging caps but basically my TV will randomly turn off and on. It began doing this 2-3 months ago and then all of the sudden worked fine for a month before it went back to doing the same thing. Sometimes it doesn't turn on and gets stuck in this continuous loop of trying to turn on.

Bad capacitors affected the 2007 and 2008 Samsung range of LCD TVs, this includes the "R86"/"R76" UK series, the LNT4xxx series, and the LxxxA400~700 series LCDs.

For example: This 46" model had cycling on/off (cycling Samsung start up tone and RED POWER LED) problem due to bad caps.

I've seen lots of samsungs with bad caps, they have various symptoms. In your case, I would replace all of the caps n the cold side (35 V and below) on the power supply.

Yes, you should replace them as a set not just the one with bulging top, use good caps like PANASONIC FM/FR/FC series.

So I managed to open up my TV and to my surprise I don't see any bulging caps! I have attached pictures of the back of my TV so someone can suggest anything else I can try.

Unplug the grey harness from the mainboard and plug the tv in. I'm not absolutely sure, but I'm thinking the backlights should come on and stay on. If this is the case, your mainboard is the problem.

I did unplug the harness cable and the backlights came on... How certain are you that it's a mainboard issue?

How long does it turn on for? Do you ever see a picture?
If it keeps making SAMSUNG chime on and off, check here:

                      That was shorted t-con board.

It does turn on and sometimes for a very long time. I checked out the video and my TV does the same thing. I'm going to try what was suggested on the video and will post my results. thanks.

Thanks to Tom66 I've isolated the problem to the timing control board. I'm going to google the part number and purchase the part. Does anybody know of a good website? Thank you to everyone, this forum is really helpful. My next project is to figure out why my 65HM167 rear projection TV keeps burning up the lamps. I've replaced it at least 5 times. Can I keep using this thread or should I post a new one?

What is full part # on T-con? Is it like "2009........"?

                              It's Samsung LJ94-02729L T-Con Board. I found this out by checking shopjimmy.com...

I would search by 2009FA7M3C4LV0.4. I had a hard job finding this with the TV in the video but eventually got it for £50 (about $80 US.) Is that TV producing normal sound with the T-con unplugged?

Yes, when I unplug the T-con board the chime sound is normal. when I plug in the board the chime sound tries to go but stops and it keeps trying until I unplug the power cord.

You can try hooking up a source to the inputs to confirm all of the main board is working, pressing SOURCE button on these will flick between sources.

                                        Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some time—like after playing a game—the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...

                                        Hello.

My TV is a QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV.

Issue : When you plug the 220V, voltages are OK on the power board and you can hear the click from the relay, but TV is not starting when power button is pressed. Red led is blinking when you press power button. But no images or sound ( Back-light is off )
Then if you disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply, the TV back-light turns on.
Any ideas to check would be very appreciated 😊

                                        Display issue Samsung TV UA65JS9000W
                                        by FourRunner
I purchased a used Samsung TV model UA65JS9000W recently knowing it had an issue with the screen. I am now thinking it may be a TCOM issue, but am not sure, any advice on this would be appreciated. Also whilst changing out the back lights I noticed the the thick clear plastic sheet (maybe 1.5 to 2mm thick) below the diffusers there is cracking (up to 75mm) on the sides and...

Samsung UE48JU7000 screen issue after backlight replacement

                                        Hi all,

Because of two bright spots and a couple of dark spots I decided to replace the backlights in my Samsung UE48JU7000. See attached photos:

I thought all went well, but after full assembly and testing it out it turns out not all is fine. The backlights are completely fine but I have some weird issues on the right half of the screen. Since I didn't really touch the T-CON board (apart from taking out the ribbons of the display and reconnecting them on assembly) it would be weird that the issue is with the T-CON board... But based on the behavior of the service...
