    iTunes-Importing Files

I like to record tracks from my vinyl records, save as .WAV files, and import into iTunes using either Apple Lossless, or 256KB AAC,

The issue I am having, is every time I import the files to my library, I have to manually enter the info for each song (artist, album, etc.). When I name them manually from iTunes, I right click on a song, go to Get Info, and enter the info there.

Is there a certain trick to naming the original files a certain way before importing, that will allow iTunes to automatically name the songs/albums properly?

mmmh.... i dont quite get your question...

lets say you get the file as a .wav (what filename format ie. Artist - Song.wav? do you manually type that every time?) and then ? i dont know .... you add the file tags? wel, you can use other softwarez to easily name and tag your files without having to type everything (like artist, album, repeatitive stuff) over and over... but i dont know if this is what you are asking..... ???

For example, I save a wave file as Artist - Song.wav. When I import it into iTunes, it just shows up as an unsorted file, usually named similar to the WAV. I wanted to know how I could get iTunes to properly sort the file into the folder for the respective artist and album.

i see. if you want itunes to automate this, you MUST use itunes to actually rip the song. it's kind of dumb, buti guess its a way for apple to keep track of you.

if you have win7, you can use wmp to sort these, then import into itunes, and the metadata will be there.

no no no come on this is the third time i try to reply this thread haha come on.... i lose everything after hittin the submit button.

          wel, again haha

i agree with toasty if thats what you want. but i have to say at first i kinda understood you want to tag your files since itunes is not recognizing you filename as the tags, wel you can get some warez to do smart tagging which will prevent you from typing everything again. i do not know if itunes does that or not, never really used it for tagging. now if what you want is to move the files from one directory to another i see no reason to use itunes for that.

          peace.

and hopefully this time it will post haha cause the last try had a better explanation of myself
