    Laptop CCFL

My father's Toshiba P25-S5093 laptop has this screen issue and I think it might be the CCFL?

Basically, the far left half to bottom corner is dimmer than the rest of the screen. I've only just noticed it today as well.

But then something else comes to my mind... aren't CCFL's mounted in the bottom and top of the screen? Because the top and bottom of the screen are still great.

Yes, ccfls are usually on the bottom. Some better laptops, vaio, etc have 2.

          Hello everyone !

My name is Chris, I am a 30 years old embedded software developer working in the automotive industry. I am really passionate about learning new skills and repairing/crafting stuff. I came around this forum last week with the goal of repairing my faulty gaming laptop, indeed, I was video editing on it when suddenly a black screen popped and never disappeared I bought some stuff to try to repair it and learn as many things as possible about computer repairs but nothing worked so far. When the black screen appeared, my legion 5 pro was connected to my external monitor...

Laptop Screen top part working bottom part all white
          by dicky96
Hi guys, I have an old laptop here I'm just trying to fix for the fun of it really

The top part, maybe 25% or 33% of the screen display works, (DOS boot text or bios screen, I have no HDD fitted) but the bottom part is all white.

On an external monitor connected to the VGA the picture is good.

So basically I have a horizontal division, below which the screen is all white. There is no apparent damage to the screen or any vertical lines

I tried cleaning the pins on the LVDS connector plug/socket as thy looked a bit dirty (18 pins plus...

Macbook 2017 with touchbar (A1706) won't turn on after removing the screen
          by Ryan.man
Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

To fix laptop screen vertical line by working on its EDP cable
          by almarhum
Has one here really gone through fixing laptop screen vertical line(s) by repairing/replacing its Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable, so would recount and share the complete steps of the process here now?

As most, if not all, believe the laptop screen vertical line(s) caused by defective Embedded DisplayPort (EDP) cable which slipped and passed through either laptop screen hinge but post here is asking help to elaborate definitively the useful, real knowledge of repairing in the most complete, correct way, esp. can decide/determine whether the cable can still be fixed or must be re...
