Wi-Fi Protected Setup pushbutton disabled by telco-provided modem?

Yesterday, I was setting up a Telstra-provided Thomson TG782T broadband modem/wireless access point for a customer. It supported Wi-Fi Protected Setup (it had a pushbutton for this function).
When I tried to connect with my laptop with the Wi-Fi Protected Setup method, the Telstra access point would only allow connection with the PIN method, even though I successfully connected at home (with a non-telco supplied access point) with the PBC method.

Apparently, the Telstra access point has the PBC method disabled.

Do you know of other telco-supplied access points with the Wi-Fi Protected Setup with the PBC method disabled (only allows the PIN method)?

i have a Thomson TG585 v7 that does have a pushbutton but it doesn't work at all (it's not mentioned in the config either). it's not lit up (i think it usually should).

i got it from my provider, so it had custom firmware (that used up 2 out of 4 LAN ports for IP-TV which i don't use anyway) but most importantly it frequently locked up and rebooted, especially when i used bittorrent.
i flashed it to a known stable official FW and voilΓ , all problems gone.
can't really say if the pushbutton setup worked before the flash.

Ditto on reflashing with a non-customized OEM firmware. I had to do this on a D-Link (blech) WiFi router that was provided by Verizon with FiOS service. The router would drop connections constantly and the signal quality was abysmal. Of course D-Link had several newer firmwares that improved these issues, but Verizon never updated theirs. I had to force the router into a recovery mode to flash the OEM firmware, as the Verizon firmware rejected the OEM update through the normal admin console.

I forgot to say, you need to press the Wi-Fi Protected setup button for at least 5 seconds to activate this function.

Why does Telstra have to do this to their routers? it drives me nuts too.... so much so that I left Telstra a year ago for good.

I am not sure if this is a bios problem or hardware problem, already tried reinstall and reset from windows, not working. And now trying to clean/reset the bios.

[REQUEST] Dell G3 3579 BIOS Password & AMI Protected Range/BIOS Guard Unlock
            by zenius
Hello, I have an old Dell G3 3579 (ST: 2WQ7LP2-8FC8) with a newer 8FC8 BIOS password. I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

Lenovo V15 G2 ITL ME DISABLED
            by spawnx212484
            Hello,

I have a Lenovo V15 G2 ITL with the memory onboard defective... I disabled the memory in the bios via a utility on the forum and since impossible to detect the SSD NVME in the Bios...

I've updated the Bios and EC but nothing changes... I thought of updating the ME frimware via Windows and I have a Log with the message ME Disabled...

I don't know what to do, should I do a ME clean?

            Thanks

            Unbricking Vigor AP
            by madan1
            Good day.

I'm posting this to help other people.

If you have a Vigor AP with some kind of a software issue or just with an unknown admin password and disabled reset button, here is how you can flash a fresh firmware.

Download the firmware from the vigor's website and extract it somewhere.
Download TFTPD64 or other tftp client with file push.
Connect to the unit with an ethernet cable and set your client IP address to 192.168.1.10 (just not .1 or .2).
Start TFTPD64, go to tftp client tab. Select the server interface with the above IP and...
