Seems like nobody cares for or doesn't like systemd so far because they don't care to vote. Interesting. I was doing the same experiment on another forum which the anti-systemd'ers were overwhelmingly voting against it and the people who don't care either way...don't care (I know there are some people who don't mind systemd on that forum and the number of which that voted is far less than the people who use it).
So it looks like most people are "don't care either way" so far...Comment

Perhaps it's the difference between general (home) users who are unlikely to encounter issues with it and those that use Linux in a fuller capacity that will perhaps encountered problems or understand the potential issues better so care more.Comment

Actually the home user probably embraces systemd. It's the die hard server maintainers that are anti-systemd.
So nobody here is anti-systemd?

My concern with systemd is that it is > 1 million lines of code. As more functionality is added to it, the chances of errors, vulnerabilities, bugs, etc increase.
In addition, debugging, understanding it, reading, etc becomes more difficult that say a 500 or even 5000 line module.
I "use" systemd since lubuntu uses it.
Of course, there are distros that don't use systemd, but right now I don't find that I hate systemd enough to switch.--- begin sig file ---

systemd is great for home users that move their machines around a lot, whether moving the antenna or the power switch or the whole physical machine. Without systemd it's all a hodge podge of software solutions, typically incompatible between distributions, to emulate allowing things people should have as root -- without actually being root.
I feel that people are afraid of saying systemd is fine too... Why? (if not, why not vote?) Has the super anti-systemd people scared people from saying systemd is fine?Comment

Hello.
I am dealing with a Philips TV, 43pus7505 and is stuck on boot loop.
So I ordered a used CPU board, and now I have wired picture.
I think the problem lies in display option code. According to SM, the command for setting
display code is 062598 + MENU + 032 (032 is written on a label on back of a TV).
But as soon I press the menu button TV jumps in menu. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong,
or can I manually edit option code in SAM. -
Im trying to use a soundbar with it. Plugged in the optical cable on both ends but in settings of the TV the “sound select” option is greyed out and won't let me switch off “main” even if I turn off “TV Speaker” option. Anyone have an idea on why or what I need to do? Thanks... -

this is a very strange Problem:
Notebook hang instantly on Boot. BIOS is accesable.
Windows: instant after showing "loading circle", even Windows Boot Stick hang instant (even without installed SSD/NVME )
Linux: instantly (if Linux Boot in leagacy Mode with log messages: Machine Check exception after 0.25 sec)
i have tried:
- only one RAM Stick, another working RAM, both RAM channel
- BIOS Flash to newest Version F.50, BIOS Reset
- Memtest86 hang instant at Test 2
- HP UEFI Diagnostic wont find... -
Dear all,
I forgot my BIOS password of my Surface Pro 3, I searched for solutions for a long time and knew that by using FPT to dump my bios to bin file and using decryptor, I can get my BIOS password.
Now I have a problem that I am unable to dump my BIOS into bin file.
My Surface Pro 3 currently runs on Ubuntu 22.04, with Secure Boot enabled and Boot From SSD Only.
I searched for FPT but there is no Linux version and none of them work.
I hereby request a copy of Intel Flash Programming Tool for Linux x64.
I would really appreciate it if anyone...
