No option for optical audio output on older Samsung LCD LN52A650A1FXZA

Im trying to use a soundbar with it. Plugged in the optical cable on both ends but in settings of the TV the “sound select” option is greyed out and won't let me switch off “main” even if I turn off “TV Speaker” option. Anyone have an idea on why or what I need to do? Thanks

It should work straight away, just turn down the sound with the tv remote if you don't want to hear those and use the remote for the sound bar, try it and report back.
