    xp pro iso

larry the linux dude has an out of character question

my dad needs xp re-installed on his hp d-530. i was running ubuntu on it but only being able to use street atlas 7 has him pissed... he wants toi use 2000 but wind dont support it. we have no xp pro cd. i would like to find an iso or torrent that has sp2 or sp3, and has no hacks or cracks. i found a restore cd torrent and a xp pro torrent but both have no or 1 seeder(s). also i he wont let me buy one unless i absolutely must (which means no to him).

i pulled it off with xp home but that was different.

edit- we have the license code still on the case as a straight up xp pro cd was used by purdue surplus to re-format the hd when we bought it.

I don't have the SHA1 or MD5 sums stored for WinXP
But that is the best bet, find a trusted source (i.e. Microsoft site) that lists the SHA1 or MD5 sum, then just search for them on torrent sites and you will be good to go (do verify the MD5 or SHA1 actually matches of course)

Even the hacked ones are clean. I've also downloaded the retail ones for work use.
VLK/Corporate = Needs Crack but no wpa bypass.
Retail = uses legit serial with activation or pirated one with 2 cracks.

If I want to pirate windows I use the VLK. I also have a legit volume license I got from a friend.

I've yet to see a virused out xp being shared.

                  Hi Ratdude

What do mean by "not happy with your code"? Are you referring to the CD-Key printed on the Certificate Of Authenticity?

Keep in mind that MS uses several kinds of Installation Media.

The best one to use for a Proprietary HP system is an original restore Disk that is tied to the machine's BIOS. For XP, this is called "System Locked Pre-activation 1.0" or SLP1.
No CD key need be entered with such a disk. The disk contains a generic CD key which need not be entered during install, even though the COA has an actual CD Key on it.

If you lack an original HP Restore disk, an "OEM License Disk" will often accept the CD Key on the COA. This is the kind of disk that is commonly sold as an "OEM License". It comes in a minimal package with a COA, Disk and copy of License. This variant will need Activation.

Other types of Media that require Special Non-OEM CD-Keys are:

The Volume License Edition (VLK). Requires its own special CD-Key. This version has no Activation and is commonly used in businesses with many computers. It is the most frequently stolen or hacked version and the CD-Key on the computer usually won't work with it.

A Retail Box Upgrade or Full version. These require a special CD-Key printed on an orange label inside the Retail Packaging. The CD-Key on the side of the computer won't work with these either.

There are many workarounds for making an incorrect disk work with either SLP1 or an OEM CD-Key. Google "oembios" for details.
So long as the computer has its original COA it's possibly legal, though MS strictly prohibits reverse-engineering or tampering.

You can also find an original restore disk here:
                  http://www.restoredisks.com/?gclid=C...FQ7xDAodjWayJw

                  Have Fun,
                  Keri

                    Re: xp pro iso

first, i found out slipstreaming sp3 is my issue. ill try a sp2 iso. 2. coa sticker. 3. i have no restore cd and i do not want to buy one. if anything i want to download one. also, i have a 250gb partition to install to (drive is 320 but it has 2 backup partitions i created). i

also, i found a key detector. used the key, came back blacklisted so ill go sp2 --> upgrade to sp3.

sp1 would work for sure but no hope on a torrent so far (none in english with seeders)

                    so

Yes it will. The CD-Key off the COA will work with a retail XP cd. Restore CDs are retarded, they come loaded with vendor crapware; total pain in the ass, we never use them.

Use Nlite to integrate SP3 and IE8 if you don't want to install it afterwards. You can also add sata drivers and the like.

I don't know where you are downloading from but there are plenty of seeded XP pro retail torrents out there. Some have SP2, some have SP3. I'd post one but I don't think they approve of that here.

sp3 slipstreamed changes which keys work and not work i read. they blacklisted some due to widespread pirating.

and i agree restore disks suck. no partitioning options and tons of fatty bloatware. norton is the worst, but some com close. im making it so iut uses mainly freeware/open source as oppes to payware. like oo instead of office, infra recorder instead of nero, comodo instead of mcaFEE.

ill probably give him ie8 and either opera or chrome. ff got too bloated. i like both so im debating. probably opera since he is used to ff.

amd i have a sp2 torrrent done. ill post back on if it recognizes my c0d3.

If you have a legit COA on the computer you should be able to activate it easily. If not online then over the phone.

and you must use SP2 or above due to large hard drive handling.

And COA key does works that is found on HP boxen's COA sticker. Need another kind of copy that is used for Dell as well.

as Keri stated above, google 'oembios' for Dell files. it might take some searching to get the right ones.
if everything else fails you might install with a known working key (i.e. VLK), change the key back to your legit one (there are tools for this, eg on Hiren's bootcd), then activate.
i'm not sure what MS's view on these steps would be but the outcome seems perfectly legal to me.

Never had any problems with xp pro or home and retail xp cds. We always had them activate either over the phone or online. No oem cds for dell either, just slipstreamed generic xp. The phone is a pain but you are doing this once, I do this at least 10 times a day. If the key doesn't work call microsoft and ask them if your key is blacklisted or something else is wrong. They don't bite, I even told them it was easier to pirate windows than install it legitimately and they said "we know".

P.S. VLK windows and retail/oem windows are not interchangeable. They will not take each other's keys even after the install. MC/PRO/Tablet retail will all take the same keys since the first cd is pretty much an XP pro cd.
