    I love Veterans and mods that are a**holes. Also, to make a call to your "student that doesn't want to learn": how about the student being dependent on subjects that have nothing to do with what they signed up for. I signed up for maths, programming and physics. Guess what we learn the most! Biology, organic chemistry, history and literature. But I don't want to learn… That's why I'm asking questions here, so people ignore them. For example: Wouldn't returning audio signal instead of 5V cause intermittent disconnect/connect issues?. But I don't want to learn. People can't wait to be helpful.

    Mod, please delete this thread, it turned into a huge fight.

      You seem equally EAGER to ignore the help that has been offered. Instead, you repeat irrelevant questions as if that somehow will make them LESS nonsensical. (didn't work too well for you in that September thread, now, did it?) You're more concerned with getting answers to your silly questions than THINKING about the comments/solutions that others have offered (i.e., if you're not willing to give careful, reasoned consideration to the comments folks here have made, why should they give careful, reasoned consideration to the questions you're posing??)

      LEARN. Put 100V DC on the input and see what happens (your past experience, here, suggests you wouldn't take any of our advice on whether or not to do this, so TRY it!). Then, reverse the polarity and repeat the experiment. Then, increase it to 200V. Then, try AC. Please submit your findings, in triplicate -- accompanied by a detailed analysis.

      Replace the 3.5mm jack with a 1/4" and see if the problem changes.

      Reorient the connector so that it faces magnetic north and note the results.

      Note if there is any difference between classical music being played vs. Jazz.

      Install the latest Windows updates and see how that behaves.

      Install Linux and see if anything changes.

      etc.

      Sound silly? That's what your questions sound like!

      I know if I had that problem, I'd just pull another IDENTICAL/similar sound card out and replace the BROKEN one. (Gee, someone made that suggestion, here...) Then, if I wanted to LEARN, spend a day unsoldering components and TRACING FOILS to see how the defective component interfaced with the CIRCUIT and why the proposed replacement component wouldn't work in its place.

      Instead, you're just throwing random, uncorrelated and irrelevant ideas tot he wind and wondering why no one says "Eureka! THAT's the solution!!"

      Until you understand the thing you're trying to fix/alter, you're just flailing about...

        9V relay temperature 40C

        Hi, I'm seeing one 9V relay having temperature 40C on its 9V (primary) side. Does that seem right? I switched 2 relays on that board and the temperature was the same (on the same position), so I'm sure it's not a faulty relay. I measured voltage on that relay and it was 9.5V DC, so that looks good. I don't see any other relay on that board having that kind of temperature and they have 9V on them too.
        I thought maybe the transistor that is switching this relay keeps switching on/off, so I also checked for AC and there was almost none: 0.3V using mV range. No steady frequency was shown, but...

        Hi everyone!
        I have this board that suddenly stopped supplying power to an output that drives an interchanger cleaner motor.
        I checked while the board was in place with all wires attached and there's no AC voltage on the corresponding plug X5
        This X5 is driven by fuse F8 (tested OK) which comes from the second orange relay
        To make sure there are no charcoaled contacts inside the relay, I got a 24VDC power supply and got it ready to manually power up the coil side of these relays.
        I respected the polarity, positive to cathode of protecting diode

        I was working on this CNC machine today found no keyboard functioning no control relay powering on
        The screen powered on and was giving an operation error but the manual was not very clear about what the error exactly was but with a little bit of troubleshooting and finding out that the control relays not powering on and no keyboard functions we narrowed down to this one switching power supply which of course does not have any indicator LED light they are on the keyboard interface/relay controller board

        Found shorted diodes on main controller relays there are 3 of them that...

        I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about £15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity.
