    slipstreamed XP cant find installed OS to repair

    I have a HDD with xp pro from a mobo that died, that I want to use.

    I tried doing a repair install using it ( a clone ) on an asus mobo p5k-e.
    When I tried it with a slipstreamed xp disk, using driver packs, it doesn't find
    the installed OS to repair. When I try it with the original XP CD, it did find the installed OS and was able to do the repair install.

    When I tried this on a gateway fx7026, the original XP CD could not get past a blue error screen. With the slipstreamed CD it could not find the installed OS, but it could install a new XP.

    Any ideas on why the slipstreamed CD can't find the installed OS?

    not sure BUT i use winternals ERD2005 to repair stuff

    it lets you attach to dead window installs outside of windows and lets you fix it by allowing you to uninstall bad hotfix's and also giving you access to restore points AND restoring outside of windows

    its soo good microsoft bought it off winternals and it isnt for sale any longer...

      I found what the problem was.
      You have to delete a few lines from winnt.sif

        Your registry keys have to match the installed file locations.
        This is true for System File Check also.

        During installation, I copy the entire I386 from the CD to C:\I386. Some factory systems places this as C:\Windows\I386.

        Copy the service pack to C:\I386\SP2 (or whatever)
        Once on the disk, I slipstream directly to the C:\I386 directory and leave
        the .\SP2 directory in place.

        From my registry tweak kit:

        ; ===================================================================
        ; Allow System File Checker to find slipstreamed SP2 files in C:\I386
        ; Requires "\\" C path notation
        ; Change Key
        ; Tested: 18MAY2008
        ; ===================================================================
        [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup]
        "SourcePath"="C:\\"
        "ServicePackSourcePath"="C:\\"

        ; =====================================
        ; Set CD Source Path to local I386 copy
        ; Change Key
        ; Requires "\\" C path notation
        ; Tested: 18MAY2008
        ; =====================================
        [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion]
        "SourcePath"="C:\\I386"

          Problem

          This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

          MacOS: R|W Programmers like CH341x BINs..?
          by TrumanHW
          For years I tried figuring out how to R|W BINs from my CH341x programmer.
          From FTDI's pkg, Apps specifically claiming they work, I failed for ~8 years.

          I'd expect many here figured it out (easily), but in case not ...
          It's one of the few forms of "how-to" remuneration I can GIVE BACK.

          This may be the easiest means to copy-paste:

          Install xcode:				xcode-select --install

          CF-20 Toughbook (mk1) Trackpad/Touchpad and USB ports not working
          by MichelinMan
          Hey guys,

          Just purchased a CF-20 (mk1) supposedly was all working. However, the seller had done a fresh install of windows 10 but did not install any driver. Seller was adamant the trackpad/touchpad was working.

          The touchpad/trackpad does not work. No led lights near the trackpad. The keyboard works, the USB 2 port on the base does not work, The USB 3 ports will recognise a USB 3 flashdrive but did not recognise a USB mouse. The ethernet port on the keyboard section works.

          The USB 3 port on the actual tablet section works with no issues.

          Trying to Install a dGPU into a HP zbook fury 15 g7 - Featurebyte lock shenanigans or Drop-In and go?
          by JMD64
          Greetings,

          So I have acquired this Zbook fury 15 G7 (model 298B3AV with i5-10400H ) off Ebay, seller claimed it have a T2000 but suprise, the GPU port is wide empty so I am trying to upgrade it with one.

          I got a second-hand T1000 daughter board which is claimed to be working, and I made sure everything were in order including other part I were supposed to install along with it, but the laptop can't detect the GPU and it's not even showing up in BIOS/Device manager.

          I am not sure for this model if I can just slot in a GPU and it would straight up works, while...

          VGC-LV1S MBX-199 M820/M830 find the schematics
          by skynet85
          The device is quite old, M/V MBX-199 M820/M830
          1P-0087J02-8011, the video chip flew (artifacts - no picture), removed the old one and installed a new one, but before installing the new one, the area under the video chip sank slightly and Pyataks were found, under a microscope, the contacts were not involved, it was decided to install. Now after switching on there is no initialization, all voltages are normal,
          I couldn't find a diagram, maybe someone will have one. The MBX-199 motherboard was also installed on these models, but I couldn't find the schematics for these either PCG-2E1M...
