When I spent $5 on a Delorme Earthmate (the old serial version) I neglected to see if it was NMEA compatible. Turns out that it's not and thus will not work with my copy of Streets and Trips. I have an ancient version of Street Atlas which was also made by Delorme but it's so old that it does not support the Earthmate and according to the map, the northern edge of the planed is at the US-canada border. I'm looking around and I do see newer versions of Street Atlas but they mostly require you to own a DVD drive which is a problem for me as I want to load it onto my toughbook which is not only limited on space but also lacks any sort of way to connect a DVD drive so I need to find out which was their last release that was released on CD. Streets and Trips was released on cds as recently as 2003 (that's my version) but what about Street Atlas? If serial/PCMCIA GPS receivers were cheaper I would just go and get an NMEA compatible one for Streets and Trips and toss this receiver out.

Re: Delorme mapping software
Stupid editing time limit.
Anyways, it seems that there is an adpater that connects inline with the serial cable and converts the Rockwell Binary Format which this GPS uses to the standard NMEA-0183 V2.0 format which Streets and Trips is happy with. It's sold by BYONICS as the GST-1 and costs $37. Well that does not seem too bad but I wonder if I should ask my dad for it for christmas.Find Nedry!

Re: Delorme mapping software
If you dont want to spend $37 + shipping on a protocol adapter, look for another serial GPS receiver: ebay can't help now because the only one is a Mitac MGS-110 from Australia

Re: Delorme mapping software
If I needed a USB adapter I would be more willing to spend more however because this is for one of my CF-25 thoughbooks which lack USB support (and I bet you the damn BIOS won't accept 99% of the USB PCMCIA cards out there) I can't use one and to my luck my trusty Garmin GPS 45 stopped working (won't detect any satellites anymore) a few months ago.Find Nedry!

Greetings, new guy here but always interested in the crazy universe of modding
We just finished construction of around 25 vacation houses, all inside the same private area.
Each house has 3phase power , and we bought an atlas MK10 meter for each house (25 meters total ! )
The metering on a per-house basis is done privately. Its not done by a utility company. The utility company will only charge us for the total consumption of all 25 houses together.
Id like to do a small modification on the firmware of our MK10 to make it easier identify each house's...05-20-2025, 09:09 AM -
by rumpumpel1I would like to receive confirmation that the following considerations are correct:
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad T490s (NM-C891) with 16GB RAM (8 chips) soldered on the mainboard.
MemTest86 reports the following errors:
Lowest Error Address: 0x1F97B0930 (8087MB)
Highest Error Address: 0x1FB7B6DB0 (8119MB)
Dividing the 16GB into address ranges per chip I get the following table:
#1 0x000000000 - 0x07FFFFFFF
#2 0x080000000 - 0x0FFFFFFFF
#3 0x100000000 - 0x17FFFFFFF
#4 0x180000000 - 0x1FFFFFFFF
#5 0x200000000 - 0x27FFFFFFF

by DannyxGood day folks. A friend of mine asked me to have a look at this fat servo-driven voltage stabilizer. It claims to be 10kVa ! He says it works but it sometimes trips the breaker at the panel (not its own at the front there), despite having a very light load connected to it, or none at all. Unfortunately, I don't know for sure whether it's an RCD that trips here or a regular dumb MCB. Either of them could cause the issue if they weren't sized according and they'd get tripped by the high inrush current - this was my initial hunch, but the thing is he says it doesn't happen at startup, but rather...

Odd problem here with this oven. Once it's been heating for about 10 minutes the RCD trips. If you try and flip the RCD back on it will trip instantly until the oven has cooled down again.
It's previously eaten an element so I replaced the element again - fault remains. My next thought was possibly the cooling fan, as the mainboard's cooling fan kicks in after about 10 minutes usually, but the resistance is testing OK.
There's some quite badly melted plastic around the earth connection at the back of the oven, but I'm not sure if this damage was caused by the fault or... -
