    Huh?????

    ok...this has officially become a running WTF......

    just a few minutes ago, I heard something that sounded like a small bit of plastic fall from the top of the case to the bottom. I had left the side off and put the tower case upright. So I look inside. The mobo two digit display showed F.F. ....which should be correct. there was no display and my fah monitor said the proc was *hung*.

    So I hit the reset button on the mobo. it went to F0 and then to C1. i tried it twice. same thing. then i cut power. reapplied power and hit the power button on the mobo. it booted just fine and is running right now.....again. this time i've left it on its side.

    this is crazy shit..............

              Might want to check your RAM seating down fully into the slot.. Intel's shittily designed S775 heatsink retention bends the shit out of the board, and if you have memory with heatspreaders on it, it will look like the dimm is down in the socket all the way, but in reality it'll be all the way down at the ends, and not quite contacting in the middle, due to the board flex caused by the heatsink..

              When i first built up my S775 box in a microATX case, i had issues where the board would sometimes run normally, and sometimes just die in the middle of things, or refuse to POST.

                  i was talking with a former IT guy and he asked what beep codes i was getting......

                  i'll have to hook up the speaker next time it fails........

                      ok....stupid thing has been running for 30 days with no problem.

                      I have two avenues to take:

                      1 put side panel back on and leave it on its side.
                      2 leave side panel off, but put it up-right (like a good little tower) btw...this one caused it to die withing 24 hours the last time.


                      maybe i'll go with #2. we'll see when i wake up......around 4pm or so.......
