    On a Dell Dimension 2400.
Don't buy those $10 PSU "specials". They fail, and they have taken whole computers with them.

My computer doubles as a space heater.

    Permanently Retired Systems:
RIP Advantech UNO-3072LA (2008-2021) - Decommissioned and taken out of service permanently due to lack of software support for it. Not very likely to ever be recommissioned again.
Asus Q550LF (Old main laptop, 2014-2022) - Decommissioned and stripped due to a myriad of problems, the main battery bloating being the final nail in the coffin.

Dell Dimension 2400 , according to his manual , had 4 connectors USB 2.0 . and not 1.0 . So typically outside the trouble zone .

I have a computer with USB 1.0 ports. I never had a problem with it. It's a Compaq with an SiS 5598 chipset. That whole computer actually runs surprisingly well.
I agree on that fully . It could be Via non reference cards , just like Ati or Nvidia used to do , but still , they should watch for a certain quality level .

I'll try to locate one of those cards (somewhere deep into my shop , lol ) but it will take time . Thanks for sharing ..

Hope you are not talking about my old computer because it is a Gateway made in 1999.

Maybe out of context , but i've just finished repairing a "Mobilette" charger , with , guess what ? .. No fuse !! .. A chinese make .

A miserable fan , (not working eventually) , caused the destruction of a 100mf 50 v. , one 3842A and one 2.7 K. . Expected when there are no fuse..

Jiroy thanks again for helping in this thread.

I should not have posted: “Hope you are not talking about my old computer because it is a Gateway made in 1999.”

I am old and slow and every thing I post seems to come out wrong or have more than one meaning. Let me see if this makes more sense without shooting my self in the foot again. LOL

The old computer this thread is about has a sticker on its back that says Gateway LP Mini Tower Performance773 Mfg Date 8/09/00.

I should have dragged the tower out of its spot and posted that info in my first post. I just want to thank everyone for helping me copy my Documents and my Pictures from this old Gateway.

I am wondering if any company still sells a flash drive that will work with this old computer?

All I want to do is save the My Pictures and My Documents.
Install the USB service pack for XP.

Hope you're not older than me , cause i'm nearing the middle age , but old is gold right ? ..

Maybe i did a similar mistake not asking about the models number , cause many confused what they had with what they didn't had , maybe due to long time no see ...
Anyway , Usb 1.0 started in 1996 and Usb 2.0 started in 1999 , so the people affected by this issue are within the three years margin only , and they have to be sure what they had or have if they want to be useful for others ..

Even more , Some companies used to put more than one USB controller in their mobos to bypass the 1.0 limited bandwidth , even after 2000 ..
