Dell Inspiron 17R-5720 Again! Panel goes to snow (hash?) or lines. Picture below (if I did this right) Bad panel or HDD?
Very intermittent, this happened almost a year ago too.
This is my PC. The last time I took it to a local PC shop where they let it run and "tested stuff" but found nothing wrong. It has been working good until a few days ago when it started again. It froze up with garbage covering the whole panel. Usually it looks black & white but sometimes it has colored horizontal streaks like this picture. I have to hold the power down to turn it off, then everything is normal again.
I did Dells diagnostics "Pre-boot System Assessment" that checks all the hardware and the system.... no problem found! It doesn't seem to be sensitive to moving, tapping, twisting, etc., but I haven't opened it up to check connections... yet!

I can't see the pictures, but snow or lines on a laptop usually means one of the two things:

    1.Bad panel
    2.Bad iGPU
    Main rig:
    Gigabyte B75M-D3H
    Core i5-3470 3.60GHz
    Gigabyte Geforce GTX650 1GB GDDR5
    16GB DDR3-1600
    Samsung SH-224AB DVD-RW
    FSP Bluestorm II 500W (recapped)
    120GB ADATA + 2x Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB
    Delux MG760 case

      No picture attached.
Hard drives don't cause picture issues. Memory, GPU, panel or cable are usually the cause.
Download and burn this CD http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/
Boot the CD and run Memtest, this will rule out the memory.
