Youtube Flash Video Player fixes the problem. Its Firefox extension.

I think a newer version with fewer security flaws is better for the people who use this computer. It's still insecure, but there won't be as many exploits for the newer version.

YouTube's HTML5 player does, but not in Firefox on Windows XP. In Vista and later, it will play H.264 video, and it even started using hardware acceleration recently.

      Yes, it is.

Is there any way to get YouTube to use Flash without any add-ons? I think that would be the best option to get it working for now. I never liked Chrome, and switching browsers will just make the people who use this computer think that the poor video playback was the browser's fault.

Re: HTML5 video playback performance dropped

What I suggested works in firefox on some videos when the player opens up it will say cannot play this format but if you give it a few seconds it will play the video with No stuttering onvideo or audio.

HTML5 is simply an means to control browser integrated .h264/mp4 decoding. Other websites are trying to get switched over but some still remain. I'm on Nightly FF Alpha 64-bit which has no flash support, so i'm left out on some. Some H264 video acceleration occoures on the graphics card for newer operating systems, other hardware optimizations are processor based (MMXx/SSEx)

Maybe. Or maybe not. Unless you know each and every security exploit for ever Flash version, I think it's a moot point to argue which one is more insecure.

Gotcha. Makes sense why I don't get H.264 acceleration on my XP systems with my Radeon HD 2400 video cards. That said, I'm not sure if I saw any with my (single) Win7 PC either. I guess I will have to bring that out of the closet and try.

Is there even an add-on to force Flash? Also, IIRC, FireFox now blocks Flash from being used. If you want to unblock it, I think you will need to either re-install FF or disable Flash Player blocking, then disable the add-on blocklist through about:config.

I install this on any client pc that I set up. Lowers CPU usage significantly. I installed it even on a i3 M laptop.

I didn't notice that it used hardware acceleration until I started troubleshooting this old computer.

                  There are a few.

Firefox allows the latest version of Flash. Older versions are blocked, but it can be allowed to run temporarily. It's kind of like setting the plugin to "Ask to Activate."

A2442 - No sound over internal speakers and no video playback
                    by soeren
I am facing a strange issue, I don't have any sound over my internal MacBook speakers and also the video won't start. If I change to my head speaker or via HDMI (speaker on my external Display) the sound works over the head speaker or Display and also the video starts (ex. youtube).

All happened after the battery ran out of power overall several days when I was on vacation.

I tried to remove the battery and then reconnected the battery, and then the MacBook Pro 14 2021 won't accept any power from my power socket. Then I removed one speaker, connected again the battery...
