    Laptops with dual HDD bays

so if you know or not know from my previous thread my laptop is boofed. One of the main thing I liked about it is the dual 2.5 HDD slots. Closest options now I have is:

    A used 772G (physically very close to my 771) from ebay - GTX 760 - $679
A new 772G new from newegg with gtx 850M ~$949
My cousins sons Asus 560M from 2012. Supports Dual bays but is THICK AND BULKY - $600

anyone know of any others model lines that support dual bays?

The larger dell precisions do (at least the monster one my father in law uses at work does).

lol yeah I saw that when I was browsing through youtube trying to find takeapart guides for laptops to see new laptops have dual HDD's

I hardly do use DVD drives but I do use them.

I've been looking into other laptops that are not dual HDD, think I could get win7 on this skylake laptop?

are you looking for a NEW laptop?

a friend has a toshiba that had the ability to upgrade by just soldering a second sata connector to the board - he tried it and it worked btw.

Yeah, i've also seen people use a M.2 -> Sata adapter and a SATA power splitter but that only fits some laptops

I've decided I'm going to go for a single hard drive after all. I have a USB 3.0 2TB external i'll use for some of my video editing files.

I have ~1100 to work with. Acer Nitros seem to be bad ideas. Poor battery, heat issues causing GPU's to clock down. Asus are generally massive and heavy. I've been looking into a number of MSI tops that seem to be not too bad

ahhhah. finally found what i'm looking for

                http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834232864

2x HDD, 965M. I think i'm going to try to get my customer to give me this laptop for house calls because there is no way in hell that asus going to fit in my carry bag

the battery kind of sucks but I keep it plugged in most of the time. It also says on asus website the battery is 6000mAh, I found 8800mAh Asus original batteries for it on ebay for a sucky $75

also said the sound sucks but it can't be any worse than my old acer, which was better than this vostro 3500

no, i mean it's designed with 2 bays, just not sold that way afaik.
they left the connector and drive frame out at the last second.

I know what you were talking about, I still posted the same hacking-theme.

they didn't leave it out at the last second, they just wanted to make it cheaper

i actually suspect they sell it as 2 models but one is only in some regions.

well well, I am posting from the laptop now. As a last resort hunch (by the fact the power adapter was totally DEAD). I took the adapter cable and cut it, split the wires, and hooked it to the 120w adapter plug (middle wire middle, ground wire on the outer)

and it fired up just fine without the battery. and to think I just bought a $999 acer gamer. Oh well, i've been needing an upgrade for a while. I'll use this for housecalls and whatnot

Dual chip Bios problem Aspire V3 772G
                          by Luka55
                          Hi Guys.
I trying to program bricked motherboard bios chip in Acer Aspire V3 772G.
I found that there is dual bios chips, 25Q16BVSIG and 25Q32BVSIG. Do I need to program them both?
Did anybody know how to split .fd file or how to program these chips?
                          Please help.
                          Thanks in advance.

Anyone else been having problems with chinese laptops using ESSX8336 / ES8336 audio?
                          by NanoTesting
This audio chipset has been a pain to deal with, most of the time its impossible to find drivers for chinese laptops that have no name/brand, or generic rebranded laptops.
Huawei also started to use it BUT they no longer host drivers on their website since they want you to force their PC manager app that often refuses to install after bios flashing and apparently the generic drivers around wont work on some intel systems and others wont work on amd systems, the generic ones have worked only once and i think i have had this problem on 30+ laptops so far in the last year.
