Linux experts? need help with Fedora Core 2 and ATI

I installed the x86_64 fedora core 2 dual booting with windows xp.
successfully loaded the Via Velocity network drivers
downloaded the ATI drivers for xorg, from what I can tell, I am using Xorg 6.7, (really dont know anything about linux, so I could be wrong).
Followed their instructions, after I reboot, linux loads, it shows the text login prompt, it then usually loads up the graphical login, then KDE. But with drivers loaded it just goes to a black screen, signal light on monitor shows up, but just a blank screen.
I used a live cd to reset the xorg.conf file and have tried a couple HOWTO's and used many example xorg.conf files with the exact same results. I also tried using the the xfree86 driver and got the same result.

What am I doing wrong here?

    using
ATI Radeon 9600XT, built by ATI
    Soltek K8Tpro-939 mainboard
    3200+ athlon 64
    1 GB ram
Hitachi CML174SX 17" LCD, tried using DVI and Analog cables
kernel is what came on the DVD, 2.5.? maybe?

Requests to Intel Flash Programming Tool for Linux Ubuntu x86_64
    by tsavpyn
    Dear all,
I forgot my BIOS password of my Surface Pro 3, I searched for solutions for a long time and knew that by using FPT to dump my bios to bin file and using decryptor, I can get my BIOS password.
Now I have a problem that I am unable to dump my BIOS into bin file.

My Surface Pro 3 currently runs on Ubuntu 22.04, with Secure Boot enabled and Boot From SSD Only.

I searched for FPT but there is no Linux version and none of them work.
I hereby request a copy of Intel Flash Programming Tool for Linux x64.
I would really appreciate it if anyone...

    Hello,

this is a very strange Problem:

Notebook hang instantly on Boot. BIOS is accesable.
Windows: instant after showing "loading circle", even Windows Boot Stick hang instant (even without installed SSD/NVME )
Linux: instantly (if Linux Boot in leagacy Mode with log messages: Machine Check exception after 0.25 sec)

    i have tried:
    - only one RAM Stick, another working RAM, both RAM channel
    - BIOS Flash to newest Version F.50, BIOS Reset
    - Memtest86 hang instant at Test 2
    - HP UEFI Diagnostic wont find...

Acer Swift won't boot after a Linux install
    by mkdj
    Dear all,

I have an issue with an Acer Swift laptop which won't boot (Acer Swift SF113-31-C7UK)

    History and symptoms:
A friend of mine tried to install Linux on this laptop. After the installation, the PC did not reboot. When pressing the power button, backlight is working, capslock is working. But screen stays black.

What I have done so far:
As I suspected a BIOS issue, I tried to clean the TXE region, following the winraid guide for CSE TXE 3.1. I managed to do all the steps, including the steps involving the signing process with OpenSSH. The...

Japanese language -- Win7 or Linux Mint?
    by Hondaman
I ordered a Japanese book, it will never be published in English. A Mr. Fujumoto was a Japanese sushi chef who became a cook for Kim Jong-Il. He was not perceived as a threat to the dictator's power, so he became very close to the dictator. Apparently, the dictator is QUITE hedonistic, with a lot of debauchery. Although he can spend as much as $700,000 per year on alcoholic beverages and this alcohol is NOT actually the highest quality. Also, the dictator has 24 palaces. One of them is as large as TEN YANKEE STADIUMS PUT TOGETHER. Are they all that large?

    Does anyone have experience...

MS Surface Book 3 - Keyboard works only in UEFI/Linux
    by survivalbloke
This is a very weird issue which I'm having trouble finding a common thread.

The keyboard is registering keypresses in either the UEFI, or a live Linux USB environment - I used Ubuntu for testing. The keyboard backlight is lit.

The keyboard is registering keypresses in Windows or any Windows-related bootable device. For example, it does not work in Hirens Recue or a Windows 11 bootable installer.

When booted to Windows, not only is the keyboard not registering keypresses, but my USB keyboard is not either!

    USB mouse and integrated trackpad...
