Sorry, but I live my life with a ruggedized " hybrid"/"convertible" Panasonic toughbook CF-19 mk3, and I see absolutely no point in a dedicated tablet. Such low power, and can't really type on it worth a damn. Keyboard cases are no good excuse for a real keyboard ether!
Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

Excuse me while i do something dangerous

You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

Well, you and I have different circumstances. I wanted/needed something more discreet than a laptop that I could take into the stores I do overnight work in and use on break.

Re: In defense of Windows 8.1

I fell Windows 8/8.1 faster than Windows 7, the aero interface puts a high load on the system, for me the only bad point of windows 8/8.1 is the metro interface and classic shell does a very good job. Now i'm using Windows 10 on my newer systems and I'm happy with it.
I'm a light gamer and like powerfull hardware and I don't know why but I fell that linux can't take afvantage of some hardware.
My girlfriend's laptop has an 2.1 sound system and on linux it losses a lot of audio quality. I daylli use an alienware m17x r3 and when I used linux it was a very dificult to make thins work an not everything worked well.
I think Windows is a success because it makes thins work withought the need of a programer degree, and because hardware vendors give a serious support.
On linux a lot of hardware vendors act as linux doesn't exist.

^Linux runs well on a lot of systems. In fact, aside from bay trail tablets, the only other problem devices are non-recent AMD GPUs and some realtek wifi chips. Otherwise, I've had good luck.

Same here, I'm still using XP on most of my PCs. I guess I can't let it go. It still does everything I need it to do.
I wonder what someone will think nowadays if they were to sit on my PC and try to use it. I have classic theme on every single computer I own. All the same black-gray-white-red colors too (same .Theme file used throughout.)

Wait, can I get that in the App store?

IDK. I tried it several times in the past, and I never liked it. Not because it is different, but because you really have to get behind everything and do it manually to make it work right. And even then, I can't say it's faster than Win XP or 7. Oh, and many of my games won't work on it. I guess it is okay for a basic PC to surf the web.

IMHO the last Windows OS worth using by intelligent forms of life is Windows 7 SP1 with updates completely disabled before May 2015.

No, don't disable security updates. You are leaving your system open to abuse. Disable recommended updates. There is a big difference.
