Re: Any Dell's more reliable than others these days?

They bought an Optiplex, not sure of the model number. Had it open yesterday to plug in the disk from the old machine, so that they could copy their files over. Not terribly impressed with the case metal - much too thin for my taste. Not the worst I have ever seen, that honor went to a case I could have smashed by just leaning on it, but thin enough that a moderate smack in the side is going to ding it.

Oddly the disk from the old machine (green plastic rails) would not fit into the empty disk bay on the new machine (which uses a bluish color rail). The green ones were too fat by a couple of millimeters. If the new machine came with a spare set of the new rails they were already lost by the time I got there, so I just taped the disk to the desk temporarily, so that they could get the files off.

      Reliable BGA chip supplier?
      by Spider1211
Hey guys, not sure if this is the right forum, but does anyone have a reliable source for BGA chips such as PCH, south bridge, etc? Tried different sellers on Aliexpress but its more of a "1 out of 3 faulty chip" experience with them.

I remember reading a thread on this topic here but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Looking for a reliable +5V and +12V PSU with low ripple
      by Y. Signal
Hello. I'd like to get suggestions for a reliable PSU with good caps and low ripple with +5V (adjustable), +12V and optionally -5V. I don't really need the -5V but it would be nice to have this output too.

I've read good things about the Meanwell MWP-606A with 50mV ripple for the +5V output (the most important for my application) so I've called to an official distributor. Sadly this PSU is not produced anymore and the replacement they suggest me (TP-100A) has 100mV ripple noise, more than the 80mV of the RT-125A I'm currently using.

Apart from this second PSU I plan...

      Samsung WD80N645OOW died mid-cycle
      by mrsith
      Hi fellow lifesavers.

I have a Samsung washer-dryer WD80N645OOW which died mid-cycle. No response to anything, completely dead.

Checked the socket, the plug fuse, all good. Took it out to examine the boards.

There is a relay clicking on the mainboard. Upon applying power, I can see a diode flashing on inverter board, after a while a diode on main board lits up for a split second, then I can hear a relay clicking. This repeats a few times, then everything dies completely.

I've been trying to examine the main board, but it's a bit difficult becuse...
