    CPU running overly hot.

Hi guys i have a CPU Intel i5 2400 @ 3.1oGhz which is currently running at 91oC which too me would be overly hot. the pc its in has 8GB ram so its not like the CPU is taking a massive load as it can be like this 10 minutes after startup with nothing running and CPU usage only at like 0.2% if taking updates etc. its got Arctic MX-4 thermal compound and an Antec KUHLER H2O 650 Water Cooling Kit, what can i do to get the temperature down guys ?

Have you made sure that the water cooler is working ie the pump is running alot have issues with the pumps failing. I have the exact same cpu it runs fine with a cheap arctic air cooler even when fully maxed out never gets above 60.

its a brand new cooler though would that matter, i fitted myself, im just assuming the water is already in it as there is no way it can open.

was looking at this and it says all the fans are running at 0% but the fans are running, why is this ?

I would advise you don't run it long at all with that and check the temps in the bios as speed fan might be messing something up some where.

i checked bios and change it from energy saving to performance but still no change, the temps im getting on speedfan are around the same as bios.

your fans are 0% because you dont have any with a tacho.
              is your radiator getting hot?
can you feel the pump running?

Is this one of those Intel heatsink pogo-pin designs that I've learned to hate? You have to make sure all four clips are in right. They're a pain.

You have to clamp the heatsink on properly or it will not make good contact and will not have a low enough thermal impedance. The processor will be in low power thermal mode because it is overheating so performance will be considerably reduced.

                    Re: CPU running overly hot.

did you connect the fan to the socket on the cpu-plate? and the plate to the cpu-fan connector on the motherboard?

from what i see in the manual, the mobo should detect the fan speed.
and you MUST disable automatic fan speed settings in the bios and run the fan 100% because the cooler has it's own controller.

your screenshot looks like you didnt.

if you did then the pump is probably not running.

Does sound like a defective cooler you should here the buzz off the pump if its running if not send it back, stick with air cooling its the most reliable in my oppinion.

You are running speedfan 4.38 (6 years old). Speedfan is up to 4.51 now. I suggest you upgrade and see what the new version reports as the old one could have a bug in it?

At first I thought that the ice dispenser mold was cracked so I brought a new ice maker because this one has been in there for about 10 years now

Well I put the new one in and wait and I wait for the water valve to open and let water in no such luck well there is a way to check the function of the motor and the water valve on this ice maker just need a jumper wire “L” to...
