    New DVD Burners

My DVD drives are getting tired. I found a cheap fix. I'm buying two Pioneer DVR-112DBK drives. In the reviews most people were happy with these units. Two drives will only cost me $78. I wish I could aford two real Plextors but dollars are short right now.

There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call the Twilight Zone.

Pioneer DVR-112DBK (BK for black) I have been reading some posts on them and they reckon they are good.

The one thing about DVD burners is none are perfect for every job so you have to consider what you want to do etc with it.
some make really good readers some are great at burning etc.

So you may want to consider 2 different brands......they are cheap as chips now.

I dont think, now Plextors are all they are cracked up to be, like in the old days

as Gal said above..... check out those links.....

      Cheers

I have terrible luck with Memorex, and great luck with Pioneer.

A number of Memorex burners (CD and DVD) have died very quick and ugly deaths. Waste of money.

It's 2025: do you know where your 5¼" floppy drives are?
          by eccerr0r
          Oh wow.

As in the other thread I was trying to revive/re-bootstrap an old Apple IIe and wasn't successful reading or writing any disk. Both drives behave similarly.

Then I was wondering, what about my PC floppy drives? I have a HH 5¼" HD drive and a combo 5¼+3½ drive. I tried formatting the disk that wouldn't work in the Apple and it didn't work in the PC either!

Then I tried a HD 5.25 disk ... it won't even touch the disk either! Just like the Apple DD disk, "Not Ready!"

Weird. Seems the PC drive is having trouble clamping...

Pioneer PL-X9 motor speed control wobble
          by Bushcat
I'm starting to re-cap a Pioneer PL-X9 turntable, specifically the motor control board, because although everything tests out OK according to the service manual, the speed wavers slightly despite the quartz lock light remaining on. So, I've decided to re-cap that board since it's the cheapest next step...

Pioneer's passive component naming convention is clear to me. For example, CSZA R22M 35 is tantalum, radial leads, 0.22uF, 20%, 35V.

BUT there are two capacitors on the board which have actual Pioneer part numbers: PCL-042. I can tell they are 0.1uF, 16V but don't...

[Help Needed] Yatour YT-M06 (Pioneer 1) – Firmware or Schematic Request
          by EduCabral
          Hi everyone,

I'm currently working on reviving a Yatour YT-M06 CD Changer Emulator module for use with a Pioneer 1 interface (specifically with a DEH-P5950IB head unit).

While the unit is recognized as a CD changer, none of the USB, SD, or AUX features respond, which leads me to believe the firmware may be corrupted or incompatible.

          🔧 Details:
          • Model: YT-M06
          • Interface: Pioneer 1
          • MCU: Fujitsu MB89F202
          • Goal: Find a valid .bin firmware file or memory dump from a working unit

I'm happy to attempt flashing, analyzing memory dumps, or doing hardware-level...

Pioneer Kuro Pro 111FD 8 red blink error

Pioneer Kuro Pro 111FD 8 blink red LED.

I have been trying to solve the power-down 8-blink red LED problem with my Pioneer.

So far I have replaced the power supply board, and the digital assembly board, I have reconnected the ribbons to all boards, ensuring the connections are good. Even though the problem is the 8 red light error and not the more common 8 blue light error code, I had Kcrownie,
based in North Carolina replace the chips that cause the 8 blue LED problem (the main board and audio board) the plasma is still powering...

          Pioneer VSX-44 receiver HDMI dropouts
          by RatherLoopy
I have an older Pioneer receiver (VSX-44) that's been dropping the HDMI output (black screen) for a few seconds every few minutes. Setup is HTPC -> Pioneer DVD HCMI in -> Pioneer HDMI out -> Samsung TV HDMI in, all with cheap HDMI cables that have never caused trouble before..

I initially found a lot of play in the receiver's HDMI inputs and output so I kind of squeezed them back into shape and they're making a tighter connection, but the problem persists.

And also, often, the HDMI will drop out in exactly the same way (black screen) just as my central air...
