mac book owners receive shocks from ungrounded chargers

    http://apple.stackexchange.com/quest...me-electricity

Wtf? That's 52v roughly (us) or 110v (UK, etc) why the hell would apple use noise filters connected to ground on ungrounded chargers?

Apple fanboi: "its normal to receve shocks from unibody macs" (at 110v because of the 230 mains, according to the OPs location.) Fuxj me! How stupid can people get?
Things I've fixed: anything from semis to crappy Chinese $2 radios, and now an IoT Dildo....

"Dude, this is Wyoming, i hopped on and sent 'er. No fucking around." -- Me

Excuse me while i do something dangerous

You must have a sad, sad boring life if you hate on people harmlessly enjoying life with an animal costume.

Sometimes you need to break shit to fix it.... Thats why my lawnmower doesn't have a deadman switch or engine brake anymore

Yeah, I can vouch that's not normal. We lived in a house that somehow didn't burn down and the ground was fucked up - shock off anything metal plugged into a grounded outlet. APC USPs wouldn't charge because of a "Site Wiring Fault."

Not a pleasant feel. Not a full 120V shock but enough to be uncomfortable.

seen that, with the added bonus of shocks from kitchen/bathroom taps.

it was not a wiring fault,
it was caused by a plumbing upgrade that replaced lead incoming water pipe wih plastic.

in the old days houses were earthed to the incoming pipes, i fixed it by just strapping a heavy wire from the earth connection at the meter to the armoured sleeve on the incoming power line.

it wasnt my house btw - it was one a friend purchased.

It's apple. What do you expect?
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

All SMPS that have Y caps from line to earth can cause this if the earth is not connected for whatever reason. Not to mention that here in Europe the potential difference is 115v, due to 230v mains.

The problem is to do with the mains cables. Purely because Apple refuse to stick to established standards and have to do things their own way, the ungrounded mains cables are identical to the grounded ones (other than the ground pin not being connected), and physically fit into chargers which require grounding.

I think my Genuine Dell PA-10 (2 prong version) has this issue... I keep getting a shock-pen like sensation off the anodised aluminum lid of my E5530 every time it's plugged in and I measured about 25V RMS AC between ground and the 19V connector's common.
