    Ubuntu 14.04 AMD 64Bit or Ubuntu 32Bit?

Hi guys,i've been getting problems with video legging on some streams like Espn3 on Ubuntu 14.04lts Amd 64bit,special on FireFox28, and Chrome is ok,then i installed Xubuntu 14.04 32Bit and now don't have none of those issues.

My question is Ubuntu 14.04 AMD 64bit instead of Ubuntu or xubuntu Intel 32bit might it be the cause of these issues?, since my machine is

    Lenovo Intel core(tm) I5 2400 CPU 3.10ghz ,3.8Gib Mem
It has Intel integrated HD 2000 but i've got and run an ATI AMD 6450 Video Card with fglrx video drivers

I Mostly use PC to stream live TV.

Can someone tell me if i'm running the wrong Ubuntu ISO?,
should i run Ubuntu 32bit instead of AMD64Bit? thanks

IMHO Ubuntu is (and has been) bloated for a while now... I'd try a different distro if it were me. Xubuntu is lighter as xfce was designed for performance, while unity was made for usability and looks (and wank). I'd try debian or fedora... or manjaro. I personally use arch but arch takes some linux knowhow to use and even more (learned in the process) to maintain... not for the faint of heart.

    (joke ahead)

NM- you actually said you have a problem with video legging. Wrong pair of pants?

Thanks ratdtude; you don't answer my question 64bit or 32bit?
i mostly use the Pc for Live Tv streaming, and XBMC so i want a Distro system that can get the best performance, and i don't like to work much as installation processes,i like most everything out of the box.

Make sure you're using the native 64-bit Flash plugin for Firefox and not the 32-bit plugin in a 64-bit wrapper. Go to about:plugins to check.

Here is the last Flash release for Linux:

        http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get....x86_64.tar.gz

        (Version 11.2.202.359).

Oddly enough, Adobe isn't making any new Flash players for Linux, another good reason to stay away from the OS.

They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

64 bit usually is better... I only use 32 on systems where 64 isn't supported. It used to be an issue with drivers and compatibilty but in recent years this isn't the case (compared to 32).

IMHO the lack of an up to date flash player isn't all bad... like most new adobe shit, the latest flash players are bloatwere delight... the "pepper" player used in google chrome for linux seems to work well on both platforms.

Why is the Flash Player bloat? It's a small download and it works great. Supports hardware acceleration, and is very flexible, or else Youtube wouldn't use it exclusively.

Pepper won't work in Firefox and even Chromium doesn't use Pepper. In fact, it's probably better to remove Pepper if you're using Chrome and download the Chrome plugin.

Linux is doomed without Flash because HTML5 support is awful. Youtube won't even let you use higher than 360p on HTML5 anymore because they can't program allocated buffering with it (i.e. your video will buffer only a little more than you've currently played, as opposed to buffering the entire video - an essential protection against bandwidth DDOS attacks) like they have with Flash.

Not to mention that I haven't seen one really good HTML5 video implementation. Nevermind that vsync is broken in Linux (At least in KDE), HTML5 or flash, but vsync doesn't work properly in Windows too with HTML5.

VLC does circles around flash in terms of performance... My dad was playing HD vidoes on a p4 Northwood 2.6Ghz (533FSB) with 512mb DDR and intel graphics and it played reasonably... the same rig struggles with anything above 360 on youtube. even 240p sucks on it... the format as a whole is bloated; the only reason it sees the light of day is the fact it's already the norm... HTML5 is a better system but nobody can be bothered as for most computer noobs, flash is "good enough" and if not, they figure that their system is to blame and blame the manufacturer...

Re: Ubuntu 14.04 AMD 64Bit or Ubuntu 32Bit?

HTML5 is faster because it's not implemented as a browser plugin like Flash is.

The format isn't bloated, it's just the way the plugin has to be implemented that causes it to play videos relatively inefficient to HTML5.

Practically speaking, Flash is an all-integrated platform - meaning that the programming has already been done for it, and there's no problems of cross-browser compatibility. If Youtube was forced to program the advertisment system and the buffering system so that it would work with HTML5, they'd have to do it for all the different browsers, because quite frankly, the 'under the hood' bastardized XML or HTML or whatever it is they're using these days is not uniform.

You can thank your generation (Not blaming you specifically - or all Millenials for that matter), for their zombie-like adoption and demand for a "Web 2.0" type internet.

i would be happy if web2.0 went back to looking like a colour ansi terminal.

                  like the old BBS days.
just without putting up with 28.800 or less.

Thank you Guys;i installed Xubuntu 14.04 lts 64 bit and everything runs smoothly,
i noticed that xubuntu has Firefox 29,and Ubuntu14.04 has Fire fox28, maybe that's why i had those legging issues with video !
