Certain SOCs such as the Broadcom BCM2835 as used in the first Raspberry Pi model can have a "POP" memory module installed on top to save board space.
My first choice in quality Japanese electrolytics is Nippon Chemi-Con, which has been in business since 1931... the quality of electronics is dependent on the quality of the electrolytics.
