Those pics brougght back all the memories of the PC glory days. I still have my NT4 packaging..........NT4 Server had a really cool box.
In this case I have some more porn for you
1) Endless gaming potentials of Win95
2) I have read and learn, all this brick, but I never gave the exams, the price for them were higher than the book.
not completely on topic, but did an on site job installing multiple internet based security cams for a local printing company. weirdest mix of consumer and server grade stuff, ancient g4 macs, shiny new i7 imacs, xp machines, win7 computers, 15" crts, 24" lcds totally bizarre.
the network room was funny though. 10/100 netgear switch an ancient comcast business modem LOL.
I know a local catholic school in fort worth like that. All shitty P4 Dells with XP, and the server is located in the technology schoolroom, where any kid can run a magnet across the drives. Uplinks to two old 10/100 24-port switches in the principals office. Using roaming profiles for all 50+ computers. through those two 10/100 switches, downloading all files at login and uploading them at logout when classes end/begin. They were wondering why it was taking several minutes to login. Never did anything about it. Well might have by now, haven't been there in several years

I bet that even today, even if they have upgrade to 1000 switches and cards, the amount of data is that much, that even this level of performance will not look a vast improvement.
In 1985 I did not even had a network in school , just a PC ( metallic cabinet: screen & keyboard & a large Floppy) that we were typing commands in Basic.
10 Print How are you ?

Customer service... Why do car companies make parts for cars not in production?
By Sp4, it would be a lumping of all updates made for xp (including sp3 which includes all SP's previous)... not that hard to make. that way it could be DL'd once .
Car companies make parts for cars that are not in production primarily because they make money off it rather than just customer service. It is true that original parts are probably made for so many years after production (much like XP has been getting updates for years).
I know what you are saying..and what your intent is. However I still doubt it will happen because there is still an incurred cost of making it happen for no apparent gain. As far as I know, a service pack has a lot more work put into it compared to individual patches, they are tested more thoroughly etc.

Yes and no. It is partially customer service; it's to build customer loyalty.
If MS did make a SP4 (SP3 with all updates made after), then for minimal effort they'd really make some people happy. Some of which, say pick what OS goes on mass fleets of computers or even a server farm... Piss them off and they may just go linux...
Why bother with xp while you have free Linux!i had 2 old machines with xp and i had to make recovery and that did not work right any more, so put the Linux and it's 5 times faster now,and I've yet to find something the xp did that i can't do with Linux my 2cents
Five kilos of books to get the basics of Windows 3.1 for work group and Dos 6.1 and then 95 / 98 /NT4/ Win2K / XP / Server editions.
Another eight books for Linux and then what? Another one for Android and another two for Win mobile ... hey wait my life is gone and I am at 70s.
And all this to just to take advantage of a computer?
Yes it is a useful tool, but my life is sort too.
I just did an XP x64 install on a relatively modern system (G45 Chipset/ICH10). I had absolutely zero problems. The machine is being used temporarily for some video capture. The only driver I had to look around for was the circa 2003 Asus TV-FM with the Phillips SAA713x chip. NXP has a 64-bit driver, and Virtualdub recognized the card perfectly.
Eventually I plan on installing Windows 7, because it's going to be my new gaming rig and I need the newer DirectX for more modern games. I should really move my main rig from XP32 to XP64 though, because I will probably never use this thing to play anything that XP can't handle.
"We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' He demanded to send Soviet troops, and immediately! No! We are not going to fight for them."

I did say relatively modern... True, it's 5 years old, but considering this system will be running a Q9650, it's going to be a lot faster than most modern budget systems of today.

I put W7 Ultimate on my precision 470, which consists of a pair of dual core 2.8GHz xeons and 8gb RAM. Same netbust wonders you're cracking on. Guess what, 7 runs impressively smooth on this antique box, it actually surprised me.

All ran well with aero... and the latter 3 ran x64. The former 2 are pretty old... V2's core is from 2002/2003! Yeah, I cheated with the GPU, but still, not bad
I run Windows 7 on my laptop already (Which is a fleabay GL40/T8100 bargain buy/rebuild). Windows 7 runs perfectly well even on old systems with 65nm Core2Duos and 2gb as long as you disable the superfetch service. I'm not running x64 because Windows 7 is slow (That's a seperate issue. Windows 7 may not *feel* slower, but the kernel is a lot more bloated than XP - see this article), but rather because I despise the interface.
Why did you dump the D630 by the way? I installed W7 x64 on a D630 (Intel version) for someone. Runs great.
