    Chipped Chip?

    Hello Everyone,

I have a socket 478 processor here and i just noticed that theres a very very small chip (i'm talking small meaning if you didnt have good eyes you wouldn't be able to see it....) it is in the very edge of the PCB (green bit on the very edges.... i'm talking the very edges of the chip).... as i can see here, it is about 1mm away from the start of the brown area it's also 1mm away from those pins underneath (probably where traces are maybe?) of this P4 chip.... it boots and lasted a gaming sesssion so it's fine i guess.

I also have a Celeron 2GHz chip here with also a very small chipped PCB on the CPU edge and it's running as a server for a long time ....

I have a curious question and you will probably laugh if you hear this but.... Is the PCB going to peel away because of heat or am i just hearing garbage from other people that want to get a new chip?

    Thanks.

If it POSTs, boots an OS and runs apps fine, don't worry about it. It won't peel or break unless there's excessive stress from an improperly installed heat-sink.
