Extract the files, backup your waterfox folder, and then copy the new files from the extracted portable into the waterfox folder. When you start it, it goes through the first-run hocus pocus....and then shazam, latest version of waterfox on XP64 (or in my case, server 2003 x64).
Been doing that with regular Firefox for XP64... I wonder if there's a way to fool the installer into thinking the OS is newer... Another method would be to extract the installer and modify the file that specifies which OS the contained program is compatible with... So far, I've not had luck with either approach...

They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, 'Save me!' thats why I use the v16 installer, it works. the installer for 18 works as well, but the program executable does not. After that, using the 'portable' install (files already extracted), simply copypasta to the waterfox directory, and viola!

How much faster is Waterfox? I wonder if it would be worth installing on my laptop.

If you have to use that method then there's no benefit to using it since it is updated so sporadically... If you're using XP64, then download the Firefox X64 Nightly in zip format (link), and extract it to wherever you want it installed (c:\Program Files for example). Upon first run, it will create the necessary profile files for you.

Re: Waterfox now supported by XP64!!

Hey man, I wanted to inform you that there is a way of making the newest version of Waterfox to work on XP x64. It's so easy, I didn't belive it myself. All you have to do is use 7zip to open the archive of the installer; once you do that then copy the core files onto your desktop.

To be frank, Waterfox is still fully compatible with XP x64 and runs like a champ; Microsoft is doing it's best to dicourage suppliers from allowing access to many new software. Yet, this is only skin deep, they only create a checking system to stop users from installing Waterfox directly; although it is still designed and has the original coding ( Yet updated) to run on XP x64.

So, Good luck to you; and all I ask is that you spread the word of this discovery. Let those faithful to XP x64 know of this discovery as I have to you. Thank you for your time and I hope this is helpful to you.

I suppose you aslready know this Topcat... I had replied to an older post by you; although, anything related to XP x64 I am honored to help out in some way. I am glad to see those who still love XP x64 and understand it's power and usefulness even in this age 2014. As the future progrsses it will be harder to combat software venders who refuse to allow access but, that shall also change, for a new age is coming; one full of indipendent thinkers, inventers, coders, hackers, ect. I shall be among them... I do hope you and others may join me but, if not that is fine for each effort made by me alone shall echo and grow larger; Imagine if thousands and millions joined this new movement? It would be wonderous! Anywho, thank you for all the useful info here Topcat and everyone else here.
