    Waterfox now supported by XP64!!

    http://www.waterfoxproject.org/

This was a long time a-coming!!! I was updating waterfox on my win7 laptop and noticed it said XP64 in the supported OS list, I had to re-read it to make sure I read it right!!! ....and sure enough, I downloaded it and checked it on my main rig (X64 of course), and sure enough!! YAY!! This just extended the life of XP64 indefinitely for me, it was the only program I wished for the longest time was supported by X64....and now it is!

    LONG LIVE XP x64!!

Your laptop is probably in AHCI mode and you probably don't have an AHCI driver for your chipset.

It's interesting keeping this in mind:
          http://www.techspot.com/news/50887-f...r-windows.html

But thanks for the recommendation, I installed it, actually the first 64-bit browser I'm using, never started using Opera 64-bit (It's my browser of choice otherwise)

Re: Waterfox now supported by XP64!!

Topcat, can you please force-enable acceleration and run these tests:

            HWACCEL
            GUI Mark 2

Can you also post your Graphics section of "about:support"?

To force-enable acceleration, go to about:config and change the following to true:

            1) gfx.direct2d.force-enabled (This one shouldn't do anything, as Direct2D acceleration will never be supported with any iteration of Mozilla in XP, but I'm still curious to see if there's any result)
            2) layers.acceleration.force-enabled
            3) webgl.force-enabled

Here's what I get with Chromium (Not that I use it, I just wanted to test it):
            Chromium 25.0.1326.0 (Build 167754)

That version of HWACCEL I posted is limited to 60fps...

Oh, and does changing gfx.font_rendering.directwrite.enabled have any effect?

I will when I get home. The GX745 I'm on right now probably wouldn't be the best to test with, its a pretty weak system.....but it likes waterfox.

My office machine with a crappy GT9600 GPU said 18FPS. I'm wondering how you got 90FPS when it tells you that results are limited to 60FPS....hmmm

My home system said 49FPS with a GTX580. Nice framerates....but I still choose not to run a browser put out by a company that made its fortune spamming the world. I'll stick with my slow Mozilla.....

For me, Firefox works best when you use:

                    Code:
                    nglayout.initialpaint.delay 0
                    and

                    Code:
                    network.http.pipelining true
Then general browsing may be faster than all the other browsers!

The default delay is pointless for today's internet.

Chrome is horrible Firefox all the way!
IF I were to have to use Chrome (and that's IF) I would use Comodo Dragon.

The official HWACCEL is limited to 60fps... Someone posted a downloadable version without the limit.

Just a little trick to waterfox and XP...the last installer of waterfox that works with XP is 16, after that, its all vista and up. If you want to run the latest version of Waterfox on XP, install 16 as normal. Then download the portable of the latest version.... Extract the files, backup your waterfox folder, and then copy the new files from the extracted portable into the waterfox folder. When you start it, it goes through the first-run hocus pocus....and then shazam, latest version of waterfox on XP64 (or in my case, server 2003 x64).

                                    cool!
wonder why they dropped support when it runs fine anyway?

sort of like my friends 2000 box that melted down when the neutral opened last week.
he bought a nice quad core box i had and then found out the really old quickbooks would not install on 7 x64.went to the floppy disks folder and started install from there.
it worked fine.the limitation was in the flashy installer front end only!

It needs to be recompiled with VS 2010 or earlier or change an option that's disabled by default in VS 2012 and later.

With VS 2012 and later, after changing the option, recompile.

Or XP will think it's corrupted! It's actually Windows rejecting it, because it thinks it's a malformed .exe and the like.

only v18 did that. I'm running v26 with the little trickery above, no issues....but the installer won't run on XP.

                                          Good Afternoon fellas,

                                          Issue:
Disc is showing as not supported when a disc is put in.

Here's what I've done, you can skip this if you just wanna know the question:
                                          - replaced with a disc drive from a donor ps5 (honestly questionable if this is known to work)
                                          - reflowed the disc drive connector
-reflowed the chip in question (shown on image)
                                          - I will say this console was very dusty so it's conceivable that it got so hot that it made the chip joints cold and potentially other things on the board

                                          Question:
                                          I...
