Hints for JetDirect EX Plus (and most other JetDirect units without a web interface)

Found this yesterday when I was looking up this unit (J2591A)
    http://www.sprint.net.au/~terbut/use...rectexplus.htm
Mine was an ex-government unit, and although it had a configuration label on it, I decided to do the factory reset as mentioned on the page, because the label may not correspond to its internal configuration.
After the factory reset, I did a firmware upgrade on the unit using the utility on HP's site.
In my home setup, I turned off DHCP and used a fixed IP address, and disabled the banner page option.

I am still trying to get an Emulex NetQue Mate to print a configuration page (as said in the instructions, power on the unit without a network connection connected to a working printer turned ON ,and in about 2 minutes, a configuration page should be printed). But this did not work .

Many of these only allow you to set an ip address if you have the extra memory simm installed, however they do try to get an ip address via bootp..

So I enabled bootp on my DHCP server, and set the print servers mac address to get a specific ip address, works like a charm...

Note: there is a "tes" button on most of them, it will usually print out the IP Address and other good information...

The JetDirect unit had a test button; the Emulex NetQue unit did not. As I said before, the NetQue does not print its configuration page, even though I have followed the instructions.

Few units of Lenovo Thinpad t490s had the same `backspace` and `enter` keys issues
        by czacha414
Guys, I need your help. I have an issue with Lenovo T490s laptops – several dozen units in different configurations, and in about half of them, the same problem appeared over time. Specifically, the Enter and Backspace keys don't work unless they are held down for a few seconds or pressed slightly harder than usual. Once they start working, they continue to function until the next reset. However, this is not just a Windows issue – it occurs under other operating systems, in BIOS, and during POST as well.

While searching for information, I found many threads describing the same...

        AMD Radeon R9 290 / R9 380 / R9 390

The Radeon R9 290 was a high-end graphics card by AMD, launched on November 5th, 2013. Built on the 28 nm process, and based on the Hawaii graphics processor, in its Hawaii PRO variant, the card supports DirectX 12. This ensures that all modern games will run on Radeon R9 290. The Hawaii graphics processor is a large chip with a die area of 438 mm² and 6,200 million transistors. Unlike the fully unlocked Radeon R9 290X, which uses the same GPU but has all 2816 shaders enabled, AMD has disabled some shading units on the Radeon R9 290 to reach the...

        by Bartoloni
looking at the motherboard there are 2 different sets of 4chip ram ( 4+4 ) and seems 2 different BANKS...
disabling 1 of the bank can solve the issue )leaving the laptop with only 4gb .. but working)

tried to find schematics but i have found nothing.
also no youtube video about this fault ( strange... 2 units with the same problem .. i was thinking is a common fault like RAM on ASUS X550)

        any hints?
        thank you in advance.

Sony Data Projector vplfh31 3LCD Blue missing
        by budwich
Got this projector which has a problem with a lack of blue. Menu text is very yellow... expecting white. If I input a signal from a test disc via hdmi, a red screen image shows a uniform red as expect. Green similar while the blue does show but with non-uniformity. Looked at the in-polarizers. They are all good and clean. Running the projector to expose the light area in the prism block, shows each color well represented, all looking about the same intensity from the naked eye. Looking at the prism block itself and sending a light source back into the "out port", the individual...

Dell Inspiron P66F, board LA-D801P, not powering on
        by bub0r
        Hi,

I have Dell Inspiron P66F with i7 and Radeon graphics with no power issue but with green light on power adapter. I bought it just for repair learning purposes some time ago knowing it is faulty and no more details.
When I press power button, fan runs for a moment (1 second?) and stops. Similarly LED on button lights up only when button is pressed.

These are my measurements on board (LA-D801P rev 1.0) with every cable detached...
