So I got this customer with a HP dv6000 with bad graphics as usual. No tools or skill to reball it (no tech in my country reballs as far as I know). So in order to make the reflow last longer I need to make the fan run ad 100% but speedfan will not recognize any fans. Does any1 know of another software that can do this?

Re: How to make HP laptop fan run at full speed (dv6000)
It can't be done in software. You either have to mess with the fan wires (IIRC if you cut one of them it'll run at full speed) or patch the DSDT table to make it believe it's running at higher temperatures than it really is.
However, i don't recommend this. It will only make the fan collect more dust, which in turn means higher temperatures, so you're back to square one. The fan isn't designed to run at full speed continuously and will fail a lot earlier than you expect. Just ensure the GPU is held as tightly in place as possible, place some support under the mainboard if required. If the heatsink is in proper contact with the chip it should take at least 10 minutes to reach maximum temperature under FurMark, and 5-7 minutes to cool back down. Also drill some extra vent holes where possible.Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company. -

Drilling holes is out of the question as per customer's instructions although suggested by me, I placed a copper shim between the gpu and heatsink so its held as tightly as possible without damaging the gpu die. I'm getting 38-41C at idle, still haven't tested it on furmark, will post results later. I also set te cpu to a max 75% for testing purposes since hot cpu translates to hot gpu. I'll see if this helps a little. I guess I'll probably end up ordering an overpirced mobo from DHgate.Guns don't solve problems. I'll take 12Comment

A failed fan will kill the GPU and mobo.Originally posted by PeteS in CARemember that by the time consequences of a short-sighted decision are experienced, the idiot who made the bad decision may have already been promoted or moved on to a better job at another company.Comment

Let me tell you a little bit about what happened to my laptop (MSI GF63 THIN 11UCX model: MS-16R6) that “maybe” you know how to solve this problem.
So before this problem happened, my laptop was running smoothly. When I wanted to restart my laptop, it looked fine at first. But after I waited for this restart process to take a long time, until finally I panicked (because the restart process did not finish plus the laptop screen only showed a black screen), I immediately pressed and held the power button to force the laptop to turn off. But... -
