ATI HDVT Wonder issues

I recently acquired an ATI tv wonder on ebay.

I am trying to pick up QAM channels under ubuntu 11.10, with no success. Nithing using the standard, IDC, or HDC options .

I am using Me TV.

Attached a .pdf of my QAM channel lineup.

Yes, I did install the firmware.

yes, I have the cable connected to the right tuner.

Any suggestions? Windows is out of the option due to the ATI driver locking out QAM (the card itself supports it AFAIK) and I am not sure if generic drivers for the conexant (analog) and phillips (digital) tuners exist.

my other question is hardware- the card did not include the breakout dongle for the purple AV port, Is there any way to buy/make a generic breakout or do I have to try ebay?

bump- I read that my provider uses the standard frequency chart... but that info was from 2007...

I have an HDTV wonder (PCI) I know works, even had to torrent the software cause ATI does not have the download for it. I HEAR it works with mythtv, and my research shows it should

mythtv does support it and mythtv uses the same tuner software as me-tv

I think I may have the purple dongle thingy too....along with a remote wonder I got with an 8500 AIW. the card is long gone, but I still have the box with the goodies in it. The connector looks the same.

found the issue

nubnutz had the the connectors swapped... I hooked it to the other tuner jack and QAM signals are picked up by w_scan... wish me luck!

I have one of those purple dongle thingies too, but mine comes attached to my body, and its hard to find a UPS box thats 2"x12" to fit it

yes they did, but I don't see how thats 'off the wall'. Just my usual sick sense of humor

edit: yeah I sort of see it. He said he needed a purple dongle, and the joke was, mine was attached to my body and was too big for a normal package to send

anyways, I'm not sure, but a lot of those dongles are wired the same, so some off other video cards might work. Hell some of them have the 2x2 combination on each side so an S-video cable will fit it normally

in the pics I thought it was a one of those svideo+ jacks... it isn't. this jack carries audio too.

the other ATI tuners /AIW used the same dongle:



I would have used an AIW myself but I got the idea they liked to die... knowing how hot a gpu and a tuner get by themselves, mixing the two on one card cannot be good.

Naw, They do get hot, but they can't be that bad, do some research

oh yeah you're right, its NVIDIA cards that you can plug an S-video cable straight into without requiring an adapter

ATi did it too... i have an x1300 AGP in a shuttle box that did it.
