    PowerMac G4 wakes from sleep when light is switched

    Hi everybody,

    already tried nearly everything to cure the following:

    My PowerMac G4 wakes from sleep, when either I switch on/off a transformer-powered low-voltage lighting chain, or my gas heating's electronic ignition fires.

    I tried a UPS to separate the machine from the power grid - no difference. I pulled all cables (ethernet, USB, speakers etc) - no difference.

    No other computer in my flat does so - unluckily I never had another PM G4 to check.

    Any ideas would be very welcome.

      Wired or wireless mouse/keyboard?

      Have you tried disconnecting them as they are typically what the (any) system watches for a wake-up signal.

          Is it grounded? This sounds like an EMI problem.

              This laptop refuses to sleep unless specifically commanded to sleep through Windows. If I close the lid, the screen does go dark just before the lid is closed, so it appears the hall sensor works. However, it will sit there, drawing 1.xx amps until the battery dies. If I command it to sleep, it drops down to normal sleeping current. If I have it sleeping with lid closed and I disconnect the power adapter, it will wake from sleep, even with the lid closed.               I have a Lithonia Lighting 65-Watt Gray Hardwired Compact Fluorescent

              I also have back when Light of America had these light bulbs available for yard lights

              The issue with Light of America was the blast boards had all most certain board failure while bulbs hardly ever fail

              While the Lithonia lighting fixture has all most certain bulb failure

              So I have modified the Lithonia lighting fixture to accept the Light of America light bulb and see how long this will last
