Well what kinds of uses do you have in mind?

You will need to know a lot about programming to do this, even I dont know enough to be able to do this! (yes I know everybody else says the same thing)

We've already picked a new name. Try hard enough you can find it out... first one to figure it out and post it here wins!

I'm sure netos is patented or trademarked somewhere also. Also,

            http://cloudhighclub.com/cloud-os/
            http://openp2p.com/pub/gl/33

Should pick something related to freedom, not relying on a single machine to access your applications, having everything in the "cloud" , if it's low on resources should also transmit that somehow...

FeatherOS for example.. or maybe it doesn't really have to have OS in the name... think of a fast, agile, light bird for example (colibri is already taken...)

later edit...hmm... if it starts with z.... don't see the connection, not to mention it's a bad letter to start with.

              What's wrong with Zulu?
Ubuntu is africa-related and so is Zulu :P
              It sounds nice!

Anyway, how did you figure it out..
              Oh and congrats you won:

PS: It's Zulu, not ZuluOS or Zulu OS, but I had to put os in the domain name because all the others were taken...

                Re: Making a Web Browser

I just accessed the website and it redirected me.

                Zulu is very generic...

It's a language, it's a tribe/ethnic group, it's the last letter in the Nato alphabet, it's the us military time standard (equivalent to gmt) and it also means heaven in the nguni languages....

Some populations are very superstitious, as it starts with the last letter in the alphabet could hurt it...

There's also the psychological factor - people have a tendency to not trust names that sound weird to their ears - your market won't be Africa (at least initially), so for everyone else Zulu may sound too exotic. This psychological factor is also a part of why you sometimes find it funny that Chinese companies call their devices RonGong or FiveStars or other silly names - for them it's a pride and they honestly believe such names bring them luck.

Being so generic, you may have problems trademarking it but I'm not sure it's used in IT so it may work.

As it starts with Z your project will almost always be last in directory listings or whatever lists are sorted alphabetically... just think right now how many companies that start with Z you know in real world... I bet there's close to none.

But don't take my word, just look in the business list here:

                http://investing.businessweek.com/re...asp?letterIn=Z

3 pages with companies - now compare with each other letter.. A for example has 23 pages, B has 13, C has 24 and so on...

As it's 4 letters only it would have been impossible to get a domain just with the name... leaving the generic-ity aside. There's no relation between the shortness of the name and the popularity - look at amazon or newegg or sephora or microsoft or mercedes etc etc

                * I could only think of Zippo and Zappos and Zephyr Technologies and Zilog (dead, I think)... how many did you think of?

                  Re: Making a Web Browser

Just sort them backward then Zulu will be in the front :P

You have some good points there but we're still going to call it Zulu :P

I didn't realize that redirect even worked , lol!

                    Firefox is now SATANIC
                    by Hondaman
Now that I have your attention:

In the last few days, it looks like Firefox has changed their software terms so they are now evil and WILL sell your data.

I already use Palemoon for Win7 sometimes. Looks like I'll be switching to librewolf as well, as Youtuber Louis Rossman suggests. Palemoon still supports Win7, but sometimes pages don't work properly. The Google Chrome browser might also still work for Win7.

I will have no choice but to upgrade my Firefox, so that I can copy dozens of tabs into a document or spreadsheet, or go through the history to...

New project for a Lipo4 based battery pack for a battery backup that I found an enclosure from Battery Hookup
                    by sam_sam_sam
Right now Battery Hookup has these e-bike battery packs that are used but I am going to remove them and test them and see how good they are and maybe resell or reused them for another project this is for another day

When I get the rack mounted enclosure that I mentioned in another post I will see how well they fit in the enclosure and how much room I will have left

                    https://batteryhookup.com/products/3...ttery-with-bms

These battery packs are a little bit hard to get out of the enclosure because they were a little bit glue...

HP RTX 3060 with bad cap (beginner project)
                    by Bladiblad
I have an interesting project here. I have a HP RTX 3060 12GB VRAM GPU with a shortcircuit between a (what I believe is) a coil and a cap. The short circuit is so bad that it will trigger a failsafe on the PSU.

I'm a beginner in this field and have managed to do only very simple board repairs so far. I have basic understanding of the components (mosfets, caps, nand chips) but completely diagnosing a board with schematics would be challenging. In this case though, I'm going to hope that replacing only the two shorted components will bring the card back to life (if none of the IC's...

                    Magnetic Stirrer Project Reset
                    by EasyGoing1
So based on some of the comments in my other posts, there seems to be some confusion or maybe some assumptions, I'm not sure exactly, so I wanted to hit the reset button on the entire discussion and make a few things clear that might not have otherwise been obvious.

First of all, the reason I post in this forum is that I simply do not have enough knowledge in electronics to do some things that I would like to do. So I post my questions in here and I try to be as thorough as possible MOST of the time, so that those of you who do take the time to respond, will be as informed as possible...
