I was thinking about replacing the capacitors on my video card. Does the video card require a certain type of capacitors or are they typically the same as the mobo? Could anyone help me find some good rubycon capacitors for my video card pcb?

Re: video card capacitors
they are the same caps as on motherboards. graphics cards generally use the lowest esr caps however you will probably be fine with any low esr cap.
have the caps on the card gone bad?
it should be an easy job as long as the caps to replace are with leads (radial) and not chip type
if you are in the states/canada then pm Topcat who is the owner of these forums and can supply you with caps for the repair. otherwise let us know your location to advise a source for caps.Comment

by sam_sam_samThis is from my son’s gaming computer that at first had minor overheating issues when playing a very intense game with it causing the computer to crash or reboot
Then bough a new motherboard and a new computer case that a cooling system in it already installed also brought the cooling system for this video card but now the issue with it is that it randomly rebooted screen goes blank randomly and suddenly video freezing or started with video being there then blank screen and then the video comes back or it just stays blank for a while and then maybe it will come back but it... -
by SluggerBI have an old Tivo. The Power Supplies are known to have caps that fail. Here are the caps that come with the original power supply:
I could not find replacement caps with the exact same specs. I followed an online guide and recapped the power supply with caps with these specs
The power supply now works, however the HDMI video is giving me eye strain. I don't know how a capacitor on a Power supply could impact an HDMI video signal, but it does, the Tivo interface has a flicker now and the color/brightness is off. So I want to get some new caps...-

by gcrezzThe issue with this video card is the HDMI port. Specifically on pin 19 (Diode checks on all other pins are normal). When i do a diode check on it from the pin on the board itself, I have nothing. There is also no short on the pin. Resistance reads about 200k. Normally on any HDMI pin 19 I would expect some voltage drop anywhere from .5v to 1.2v but here, I have nothing. The card is operational and can be used via the displayPort ports, but not through the HDMI. Attached you will find the pdf schematics for the card on page 22. I have verified that all of the resistors on this line before the...07-25-2024, 09:49 AM

by momakaI did it again – I had to fulfill my inner desire to fix yet another old piece of hardware. This one is actually kind of worthwhile, too – it’s an EVGA e-GeForce 7600 GS AGP video card, model P/N: 256-A8-N542-T2. With the popularity of “retro” PCs from the Win9x to XP era going up, and the diminishing supply of decent AGP cards, it is expected their prices will go up. Or is it? I bought the this video card rather on the cheap side (~$9 USD shipped to my door), because the eBay seller listed it for parts or repair (and correctly noted the bad capacitors.)
So, here is the... -
