Re: nforce 790i post
Typically no, but the diagnostic speaker might have reverse polarity, also unplug everything else except video cable and power and try turning it on. I had an HP recently do that when I had my keyboard going through a KVM plugged in, it wouldn't post. Try that first then do a different video card and PSU. If it doesn't post, it could be bad caps or chipset needs to be reflowed. -

Re: nforce 790i post
if you don't know that memory is required to post, you probably don't have the skill to do a reflowCap Datasheet Depot: http://www.paullinebarger.net/DS/
^If you have datasheets not listed PM meComment

Re: nforce 790i post
It will not post without memory but it should give beep tones if it has a speaker on the motherboard or attached, (It may also do this via the audio out jack of the sound port if it has one). You would get much better help if you said what Brand and model the board was. Ignore the reflow comment its way beyond where you are at this point.Comment

Usually I remove ram to force it to beep at me, just so I know the board is somewhat working.Comment

by emil_tHello guys. I have a problem with a PNY XLR8 GAMING RTX3090 graphics card. The problem is that it displays and works fine, but the fans don't spin at all. The problem occurred when someone else removed the fans in order to clean it and broke one of the fan connectors. He replaced it himself and after that, it wasn't working anymore. I guess he damaged something else in the process. What i have done so far: I found 2 capacitors next to the connector that were in a bad shape, he must have touched them with his tools - they weren't shorted, but i replaced them with similar ones from a similar card....04-12-2024, 06:54 AM

by b-slayerHi everyone,
I have an Asus Strix-G15-G513RM, who starts normally, but as the fans don't work, it stops and is really really hot,
The Bios was the latest one, (327), but I managed to downgrade it to version 325 to see if it changed something,
(as I read somewhere that a corrupted bios can explane my problem), but nothing, it just went full blow during the downgrade,
(so now, i can say that the fans are fonctionnal), but as it restarted, the fans won't turn at all again.
ah, and in the Bios, even when the temperature is really hot, the fan are a 0 rpm,... -

I know this will be an elementary little project for most if not all of you, but I thought I would write a post and get put on track, rather than bumbling my way through it with all kinds of trials and errors.
I REALLY would appreciate y'alls help.
This is the problem - My wife and I purchased a big ol Victorian/Colonial House in NYC two years ago. The kitchen is surrounded on 3 sides by exterior walls, there is also a 1/4 of the kitchen floor (ceramic tiles) that has a crawl space underneath, and the kitchen gets FREEZING cold... -
by HammyCheesyHello all,
I'm trying desperately to revive a ThinkStation P720 that I purchased from a seller who claims it suffered a "failed firmware update."
When given power, the machine turns on, spins up fans, beeps a single time, fans slow down, then a beep code is sounded repeatedly (3 high/short tones, 1 low/long tone).
Type: 30BB
Model Number: S03600
S/N: MJ07N68C
Things I have tried:
1. Reseated all components, pulled everything except for 2 RAM modules (1 per CPU)
2. Attempted to boot with just a single CPU...-

by sda sadHope this is the right place, someone can help me.
My laptop started having a really strange problem....
When I turn it on the fans start working at a crazy rate and with random breaks...
They can work for say 10 seconds and stop for 2 seconds and then turn on again for 5 etc...
And it's from 0 to 100%. I tried to install AIDA and did the processor chip test and the graphics did not exceed 70 degrees and the fans were not even close to working at the power they work randomly.
