    What does this do?

What exactly is this product used for? Looks intriguing.

I came across this item while I was browsing on ebay. I have no idea what its use is. Hmm.. is that a female ATA interface I see? Sure looks like it. Could be smaller but hard to tell in the photo.

According to google, LC/9533 is a Ternary Liquid Chromatograph. It appears to be a keypad for the same. Which is what the seller says it is.

ATA interface? I doubt it; it just uses some sort of ribbon cable.

Probably proprietary and not much use unless you have a ternary liquid chromatograph without a keypad.

It sounds like some sort of chemical device. Did not know IBM made such a thing.

Dell XPS m1730 powers up only when it wants to
          by Th3_uN1Qu3
I've got this really intriguing piece of hardware here. A Dell XPS M1730 with dual 8700M GT SLi. There was a label from 2010 underside the keyboard, and the video card PCB (what's visible of it, didn't take it apart) looks like it's been heated - it's likely been reballed back then.

The trouble is that it doesn't power up. Or, to be specific, it doesn't power up fully. All voltages come up, but the red lights don't turn on the touchpad, speakers and screen frame, i only get the power light. Every once in a blue moon all the lights will come on and the machine will work fine. When...

"Shadows" on LCD screen. Mura effect?
          by fsangre
I´m asking you for any help about a problem affecting both my NEC SpectraView 2490 and my NEC MultiSync 2490WUXi² LCD monitors.

          Description of the problem:

After a year - year and a half of use, both displays began to show irregularly shaped dark "shadows" on the right edge from top to bottom of the screen. At first they are not much annoying because they don't affect the main working area, so I tend not to care much about it; also somewhat reassured as I can see that they change over time and don't seem to be a permanent electronic nor mechanical problem...
