Afternoon,
I am troubleshooting an Apex 40" LED TV.
The TV is over a year old and is out of warranty.
The TV has excellent video quality and no dead pixels or anything.
No power outages sense I got the TV.
The TV will stay turned on and will never turn off by itself.
The problem is the TV will not turn on most of the time. About 10℅ of the time it will.
Sometimes the TV blue light will turn on but not the screen.
Sometimes the TV will turn on fine with the blue light...

Toshiba Satellite L25-S119 power button issue.
Hi its been awhile.
I have to keep pressing the button multiple times to get it to turn on. It will only turn on with the power plugged in but I still have to press the power button multiple times.
This did not start happening until after I replaced the keyboard. But I also sprayed all the dust out with air.
I tried replacing the battery with a new one. I tried different chargers.
It took apart the laptop again and the power button is clean.
Any ideas?
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I only have to press the power button once...Last edited by backtrack; 08-09-2016, 08:12 PM.

Re: ratdude's main rig mayhem
Excellent choice on choosing WD for your harddisk upgrade.
I would check that part off on the list for good. I had a WD and it lasted for years and no problems. Time definitely tolled. A 320gb disk would cut defrag times if you use winda that is. Obviously with any linux os you don't have to worry about defraging.
I think 1gb memory is almost the bare minimum for the x64 instruction set. Barely.. Especially if you are using kde or gnome. 1gb is perfect if you only run a couple processes at a time.
$25 for a new corsair stick...

Re: What does this do?
It sounds like some sort of chemical device. Did not know IBM made such a thing.

What does this do?
What exactly is this product used for? Looks intriguing.
I came across this item while I was browsing on ebay. I have no idea what its use is. Hmm.. is that a female ATA interface I see? Sure looks like it. Could be smaller but hard to tell in the photo.

Re: An old fave analog meter
RCA was analog and used to make meters with metal cases, not sure if they do anymore. I think they stopped production.. period, including digital. Currently I own a old RCA which needs probe replacements.

Re: a random toner box...
Personally the first cardboard body that I ever saw that fitted almost perfectly.
EDIT- I like how the back with the serial ports is center even.Last edited by backtrack; 12-08-2010, 02:07 AM.

Re: My first iMacs
Back then if I knew first hand of what was going to happen I would have opened it up and place it right next to a air conditioner or operate it inside of a refrigerator on max. That's how bad the temps were and the price was mistakenly high.

Re: My first iMacs
Macs are definitely turnkey. My first was a Apple III 1MHz 6502 with 128K and boy did it over heat!! Should of had polymers right.

Re: This is Why You NEVER Ignore Bad Capacitors!
I have received a Macintosh with a psu that had black stuff covering the transformer, capacitors, everything you name it! There was also black stuff on the outside. The voltage rail was toast and perhaps beyond repair. The psu did not stay around for long.

Re: Is it possible...
So the orange cable was the PWM. Was successful with substituting the Superred 26K1253 with the female 4PIn molex for the female 3PIn molex. Was only able to buy a 4PIn rather then a 3PIn. The 3PIn models are hard to find. I came to the conclusion that PWM is not important unless you want the ability to control the available rpm rate of fans. I did some experimenting on a different IBM mobo and the PWM is not required for normal operation. The PWM is the only cable that is not connected. The rest of the three are connected and the fan is functioning quite well....

Is it possible...
Is it possible to substitute a female 4-PIn molex for a female 3-PIn molex on any mobo particularly IBM? I know the 3-PIn (black, red, yellow) is all volts\ground but I forgot what the 4th pin purpose was(Commonly with the orange cable as the last on either side of the in-line) Is it manipulated to reduce\increase speed when referring to a fan? Just replacing a couple of 60x20mm assembly fans for a IBM thinkcentre 8183. I'm pretty sure the orange wire is not important. Thanks.

Re: What is this?
I never tried uplinking my hp hub when I had it. The RJ-45 cable looks exactly the same as the crossover cable except the crossed wires. Hard to tell a lot of times. Have gone through a whole box of used ones.

Re: What is this?
PC froze up again, time to reapply arctic silver.
Up linking separate service providers is possible on a SonicWall wireless router.
I'm pretty sure you can up link 2 separate internet service providers on any hub right? I never tried it.

Re: What is this?
Not familiar with the Manufacturer of that hub but I used to have a hub similar to that, mine was a Hewlett Packard.
Hubs connect to multiple hosts just like a wireless router except with cables. Hubs are not used that often anymore, instead businesses and consumers are using switches because they do the job quite well. Although I would personally choose the hub over the router for faster solid connections as well as security. I Currently own a Cisco Catalyst 1900 switch that weighs a ton! The switch uses the same amount of voltage as a standard SMPS between...

Greetings to everyone at Badcaps including Topcat the owner.
Badcaps is by far one of the best forum sites out there, and I just have to comment on the homepage banner and the forum banner....they both look very nice!
