    Recommended Mail Order Companies

I started using more overseas mail order companies for difficult to find parts. So lets start a thread of recommendations or not for vendors.

(no capacitor or motherboard repair companies in USA/Canada as per forum rules)

Vendors I have personal experience with

MDS Battery (UK) Ltd. - London UK Recommended
    http://www.mdsbattery.co.uk
Offers replacement batteries for all types of goods. I have bought several laptop batteries for obsolete Sony and HP and they have been of ENERGY+ brand. Exact replicas of the manufacturers batteries. fast order processing and fast shipping by UPS every time.

Computer Computer Ltd. - London UK Recommended
    http://www.com-com.co.uk/
Excellent for server / laserjet parts that you want asap. Nice online quote/email system, Good comms, prices good, shipping was expensive.

Crucial Technology - East Kilbride UK Recommended
    http://www.crucial.com/eu/
I use them for laptop memory sodimms which i need asap. They offer Crucial Brand which is Micron Technologies chips. fast shipping and difficult to find parts available.

Weather Front - Eastbourne UK Recommended
    http://www.ukweathershop.co.uk/
Sells weather monitoring equipment. I bought my BC-900 / RS-900 battery charger there. Online ordering like it should be : order received then order shipped a few hours later.

Digitalwonderworld Handels GmbH - Adelebsen, Germany
    http://www.digiwowo.com/
Digital Camera equipment. The prices are good and the products are not Grey Market, they come with EU guarantee. My order took 1 month to arrive after some exchanges of communication. Comms is ok like 24hrs. I didnt know their previous company bankrupted leaving some people having paid for orders and not receiving them. I will keep them in mind for future but presently trying another vendor.

Vendors I plan on purchasing from

Micro-Tools Europe GmbH - Ochtrup, Germany
    http://www.micro-tools.de/
Sells camera repair equipment including a full range of practically all the DSLR sensor cleaning products.

I've bought new Li-Ion battery (DR-202 replacement) for my notebook at http://www.eurobatteries.com/ - it's 5400mAh and now it runs for 4.5 hours (in Linux) (DTK FortisPro TOP-5A, Pentium 166MMX, 80MB RAM, Hitachi 40GB 5400RPM)

I was about to add :

http://www.cameraworld.co.uk from UK which came recommended. But with quotation for shipping a lens, flash, filters (about 1kg) from uk to greece = $138 shipping gives me the idea their good prices are supported by the excessive shipping costs.

        Re: Recommended Mail Order Companies

This one is not a mail order company. But i was looking for a good camera shop in Athens which sold equipment with european warranty and not grey market. I found this one which is great, lots of stock of SLR and DSLR products. Good for tourists also cos they speak english.

          Verify e-mail address?

Hello! I am having a problem with the forum in general, not a specific device repair. I am sorry if this is not the correct place to post about this!

My problem is quite simple: I got an e-mail that someone replied to one thread which I follow, but when I click the link to go to it, I get a message which says "To download from Badcaps you must register and verify your email address. Upon registration it may take a few minutes for the verification email to arrive. If you do not see it please check your spam folder. For assistance contact support@badcaps.net". I have clicked...

Mounting and Handling Guidelines for TO220 TO220F TO247 Cases / Packages

The TO220, TO220F and TO247 are the popular packages for power devices because of their versatility and ability to dissipate moderate amounts of heat. This application note describes the basic guidelines for handling power MOSFETs in TO220, TO220 and TO247 packages shown in Figure 1. Please note that only mechanical and soldering guidelines are covered here. Additional precautions are required for isolating high voltage rated devices to meet safety regulations.

          Gigabyte GA-6OXT :: caps question
          by Foetuss
          Good evening

I recently aquired a rev 1.1 Gigabyte 60XT, and was suprised of the amount of leaking caps for a motherboard of the P3 era. Especially the way the 330µf caps seems like the housing discolored even.
Now, there are some 3300µF 6.3V KZG series around the CPU. Would it be OK to replace them with something like EEUFR1A332 ? (Panasonic FR 3300µF 10V). Or was this board designed around very low ESR caps?

But I was also suprised about the bigger boys, which are 330µF 25V.
Could it be they used 25V caps because they were cheaper / available at that time?...

LG 50lb6100 flashing backlights unsusual fix!
          by rddube
          Hello everyone,

Thought I'd share this find for the repair of an LG tv which had started to turn on but would only get flashing backlights. Backlights would flash at a few second intervals, and when I opened it, noticed that only the 3 bottom rows were flashing, the 2 top rows were completely dead. Replaced a few burnt leds (tested with my led tester), put everything back together, tested all led strips and they were all good, but again the 3 bottom rows would go into this flashing cycle.
