    screen resolution Dell

    Hi I hope some body can help me with this problem.
    I have just replaced the hard drive in an optiplex computer ,and reloaded windows xp sp3 .
    The screen is very low resolution with 4 bit colours and I cannot change it ?
    Is there a problem with the video drivers ?
    How do I sort this out ?

      You need to install the graphics drivers.

      You can get exactly what you need from the Dell website by putting in the service tag of the computer.

          or use drivereasy.com. its slow as hell but it works.

              If there was no graphics driver the Microsoft VESA driver would load and you'll have 16 or 32 bits (but very very slow), definitely not only 4 bits. The 4 bit color indicates a conflict between the driver version and the hardware. It happens. Look for updated drivers as it has been said.

                  As others have said, go to the Dell site. Use your service tag number and the dell site will give up all the needed drivers. Download all of them and burn them to a disk. If it happens to have the ATI video I have that drive here from dell. Be sure to do a custom install so you don't end up with all the bloat ware ATI packages with the video driver.

                      I have search everywhere for a solution for my problem, but cant find it anywhere.

                      When I was away to trow some garbage i always look in the electronic bin.
                      and this time i find a laptop.
                      Dell G3 15 3500, when I get home i look at the battery, add one harddrive, plug in the powercord.
                      the lamp for charmig is white.

                      Tryed to start it, the screen blink for a second, the keyboard lightsup, the fans and HD starts.
                      but no Dell logo.
                      I tryed with a hdmi cable to another screen, still black.
                      I started to search solution and tryed...

                      Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

                      My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

                      This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...
