    Capacitor naming in notebook schematics

    Hi,

I need to replace a 0402 ceramic cap that mysteriously vanished from existence when I was reflowing some ram chips on a Lenovo mainboard.
So, since I have the schematics I thought it would be easy to locate the missing cap and get a new one, but Lenovo has some (for me) unusual naming scheme for their caps. It is labeled as SCD047U6D3V1KX-GP
The schematics even give an example of the naming scheme as seen in the pic,
but I am not sure which value they mean. maybe the D means decimal? so that would be a .047uF or 47nF / 6.3V 0402 X5R then?

I do not want to make another stupid mistake

more arbitrary names by lenovo or whoever OEMs...

Looks like you probably got it right, at least assuming things can be extrapolated: SMT ceramic 0.047uF±10%, 6.3V, 0201 sized most likely, X7R/X5R

Capacitor detached from PCB – RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition

Capacitor detached from PCB – RTX 2070 Super Founders Edition

      Description:
During maintenance on an RTX 2070 SUPER Founders Edition, I found a capacitor lying on my desk after reassembly.
I did not notice it detaching, so I am unsure of its original location on the PCB.

      Procedure performed:
      - Removed backplate
      - Cleaned heatsink and PCB with isopropyl alcohol + soft ESD brush
      - Reapplied thermal compound
      - Reassembled card

      Observed behavior after reassembly:
      - GPU powers on and operates normally under...

If I replace with inferior capacitor, Is it No harm to other IC components at all?
      by chth96
I replaced some capacitor which is located on optical pickup pcb which is shown in the table below(PCB #2).Because it have been out of order.
Now,It works very well,But I just have found that all caps (6svpc100my and other part number as well) ,which is shown in the table below, has ultra-high ripple current spec.
It is not able to obtain any capacitor which can be a substitute for this ultra-high ripple current nichicon capacitor.
So I replaced it with samxon and rubycon's general capacitor(GP,YXA series).
I know that these capacitor will not last as long as nichicon capacitor...

Lenovo IdeaPad S145 no power - Capacitor? (schematics included!)
      by glaquerre
      Hello,

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad S145 that does not power on. After pressing the power button (on the keyboard), the white light (in the key) blinks six times when both battery and power adapter are plugged in, or blinks three times when only power adapter is plugged in. In both case, the LED in the DC power jack never lights up. I've tried hard & soft reset (this laptop has a pin hole for reset purpose) without any success.

I've found a shorted capacitor (red circle in the included picture) near a mosfet. This mosfet receives 19V but no voltage at the gate and...

HP Z800 Workstation - Schematics or help identifying capacitor / component value
      by kbjunkie
      Hi all,

My first post here for help - and I'm hoping someone here can help me..

My Z800 dual Xeon workstation has stopped posting. Just high fan spin on power up. I did a little digging about and found some electrolytic caps that were bulging and had leaked onto the board. I've replaced those and then discovered the remnants of what looked like another cap (SMD) had disintegrated on the board in the same part of the circuit. It looked like a cap but I have no way of knowing for sure, or what value it may have been as there was nothing left of it.

      I...

How can I test non-polarized capacitor?
      by chth96
I desoldered samwha NF capacitor(50v 5.6uf) from PCB circuit of 29inch CRT TV which have symptoms of no display after I heard sound of inrush of current to TV whenever I switch on this television.
I measured ESR value of this non-polarized capacitor(samwha NF capacitor 50v 5.6uf) by means of MESR-100 ESR meter and It displayed 0.3 ohm

And When I measured its capacitance with digital multimeter and LCR-T4 Mega328 meter, It displayed 10uf from DMM and 8uf from LCR-T4 meter.
I found catalogue of samwha capacitor(samwha-catalogue_3.pdf file), which is attached to this thread,...
