    330 uf cap question

    Hello,

Long time member, first time raising question.

Attached picture is part of MSI 16P51 motherboard. The caps in the picture are in power supply section of laptop. The caps are 330 uf in value.

There is a silverish gray deposit at the end of middle capacitor. This is not conductive (checked by multimeter on diode/continuity range). But, making me wonder whether something has leaked out of the cap. This part of the board remains beneath the keyboard and does not have any heat sink compound around and in that area.

Need an advice to better understand what this issue could be and also the type of capacitor (solid tantAlum, aluminum etc.).

    Warm Regards,

      silver paint.
the parts are laser-etched and then screen-painted

Troubleshooting PFC with SPC1012T not raising output
          by CoppellTVRepair
It has been a long while since I posted here to ask anything....hope you can help.

I have this Samsung power supply that uses SPC1012T as driver for the PFC and it's giving me a problem that I can't narrow down though I've troubleshooted and fixed hundreds of boards similar circuits.

I am attaching a schematic from a different Samsung board, but the topography is very very similar if not 100% the same and it uses SPC1012T, which BTW is a pinout match to UCC28063 for which there's plenty of information. I haven't confirmed they are functional equivalents, but I strongly...

MSI GE75 MS-16P51 keyboard keys problem
          by il4400
Hello everyone and thank you for your work. I will preface this by saying that I am a bit ignorant with technical terms and component abbreviations, I have done some micro soldering but I am not an expert.
I have a problem with my mainboard Msi Ge75 MS-16P51 VER 2.0 , some keys on the keyboard "F1, R, F, C, backspace 8, 9, 0 delete", don't work, I have already replaced the keyboard but I have the same problem.
The defect occurred after replacing the display.
          I have already downloaded MS-16P5(0B).cad and MSI GP63 LEOPARD 8RE MS-16P5_MS-17C5 Rev 0A pdf.
          Can anyone...

          ms-16p51 not turning on
          by crea2k
I have an ms-16p51 here for repair. When you plug in the power it was getting no light, so I've flashed the bios and now getting a light, but still not turning on. 3.3v and 5v always on are present and the power button is getting 3.3 and dropping when pressed. Also when the power button is pressed the bios is getting 3.3 for a few seconds, but nothing else then turns on. Under thermals the only thing I see getting warm is the chip that supplies 3.3 and 5v, can't see any heat in anything else.

          White Compound on Electrolytic Caps
          by paulstevens
Hello, what is the white compound used to "glue" capacitors down to a board so they don't vibrate? Is it RTV? Does it have an official name or function?

What I am really asking is what can I use to replace it when I find it broken or cracked on boards I am looking at.

          Thank you.

          MS-16P51 missing gpu
          by rookieme
          Hello,
the MS-16P51 was received dead, after PCH [SR40B] replacement and clean bios it boots with speeding fans after some time and the discrete GPU does not get recognized at all at device manager.
This could be from some issue at PCH or there is another issue on board?
